The first Space Liner is ready to launch taking its load of hundreds of rich passengers and crew into orbit around the moon. The voyage is said to be the most exciting event in over 100 years and the cost matches with tickets costing some millions. Everyone who's anyone should be aboard that liner, but none know just how exciting it will be. On the far side of the moon something happens and suddenly they find themselves millions of light years away, and none can really tell if they are still in this galaxy. They do not have long to wonder though before one of the big questions of the age is answered, intelligent life does exist. This intelligent life is not benign though and soon the humans find themselves spread across the galaxy as servants and slaves.
Callista is your average rich girl, with parents on the top ten richest people in the world list and a long boarding school education behind her. She is impeccable and everything a rich heiress should be, and every rich person who's anybody is fighting for a place on the first Space Liner. But the journey turns out to be a little more than just socializing.
Rob is one of the engineers behind the technological marvel which is the Space Liner and is excited to be out there on it first voyage, even though it is work. Excitement is doubled though, as he gets the opportunity to delve into alien technology.
Tim is normal, but a stowaway, On a dare he snuck aboard the Space Liner, and no one is quite sure how he managed it. The thrill of being in space quickly wears off though as it is not only the aliens which treat him as a lesser being.

I wanted to go to 3,000 because I can type really fast (last year I did it ALL HAND - WRITTEN) and I thought it would actually be a challenge. But, of course, I actually have school, so I can't spend all day writing like the adults can.
@meerkatgirl : Actually, you can start a novel which you're already a bit into. I'm already about 3 pages into this book which I started a little bit ago. The thing is, I already have a plot, the characters, what's going to happened at the end... *sigh* I plan too much.

Yeah, I'm like that sometimes. The thing is, I'm on Chicken Smoothie a lot, but I also have school and a drumming group after school, so by the time I really want to write, it's 10:00 PM. Luckily, my school librarian does NaNoWriMo, as well, and she runs some cool after-school get-togethers for the NaNo Novelists so that we can have a nice place to write for about an hour.
On top of that she gives us mints. 8D Yay for librarians.
