Dislike

Digimon is a knock off of Pokemon it's really cheesy that all of the names end in "mon" seriously
Pokemon is a kids show
Neither is considered hard-core anime

Hey, I take offense to that! As do the rest of my 20+ years old friends!

We all play and watch pokemon. Pokemon is awesome.

I am amused by this "hard-core anime". The be honest, the only hard-core animes there are out there, are the
really messed up ones. None of the popular "teen" shows are hard-core. They are just overly censored
cartoons, with always the same message, for teens.

Now if you want to watch hard-core anime, then you should head out to look for the genre that
is very unpopular outside Japan - the horror anime/manga genre.
That's truly hardcore, uncensored and gorey as damn.

DiabolicReality: The horror/gore stuff is very popular in Japan, but Japanese people surely do know how to make a truly screwed up horror series. And it's not just the blood that makes it scary, it's usually the plot that is terrifying.

Higurashi, Elfen Lied, School Days, Umineko, to just name a tiny fraction of the horror/psychological manga/anime series.

I mean, Higurashi, it's like taking a bunch of happy kids who are all friends, and putting them in a house which is very friendly and nice, and they are just house mates.
Come back a week later and you find that somehow, all that is left is a bloody mess of mangled corpses.

Yeah, that's what I was saying - it is popular in Japan, but not outside Japan.
People here only think anime/manga is the prettyboy and prettygirl stuff
with powerups, magic or giant mecha.

Higurashi isn't very scary. I've watched that thing, and it mostly confused and bored me.
It is also a 'child friendly' version of the horror/gore themed animes there is - the
art style is so childish it burns my eyes.

The horror I was talking about is the manga made for adults. The art style is different,
more mature, and not everyone looks like 15 year old. It is also much much more
disturbing than the mainstream 'scary animes'.

I don't watch the mainstream ones, and I very rarely read/watch anime/manga
in general because most of it is always set on a plot that is the same from every
other anime and manga out there.
It makes me irritable when people ask me if I read manga, and I answer yes,
and they immediately think I read Bleach, or Naruto or some of those popular
overrated things. I don't. I watch and read the truly hideous 18+ stories that make people
have nightmares about people that look like ogres - not the prettygirls with knives and
giggly voices.

Well, Higurashi scared me, because I was 12 when I first watched it(Not wise, I know), but now there is only one bit that gets me everytime(Fingernail ripping scene).
I haven't really seen the non mainstream horror, although I would like to because I can't find a decent anime streaming site xD (Even though I'm not 18)

Bleach and Naruto bore me so much .___.
They've been going on for too long. Decent plot please.

I remember someone being all "You like scaryu anime! OMG YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS IT IS SOO SCARY!"
and thus introducing me to Higurashi. It was..kind of a let-down once I finally watched it, after
getting so much "OMG IT IS SOO CREEEEPY" comments from other people.
I know why they thought it was creepy - it had more blood in it than the other mainstream stuff =_=

Most of the really hideous horror can be found in manga scans form. Translated of course.
I'd link you to a few, but I'm not sure if it is wise for me to flash those links openly
on a forum here - this site is Pg-13 after all, and I already once
got a "OMG YOU DID YOUR FIRST MISTAKE - HERE TAKE THISSS!" forum warning
accompanied by a very rude PM.

The only manga I follow religiously these days is One Piece. Because it is the only one
that keeps surprising me XD

They do like to splash around blood in Higurashi, but it surprises me that one stab can cause a wave of blood. A bit unrealistic there. I do think Umineko(done by the same creator of higurashi), splashes it around a lot, so it just looks like paint =.=. That's probably why the only bit that scared me was the fingernail ripping scene(and I can relate to that as well, I had my fingernails ripped off in year 7, so I know what it feels like, it really is painful)

I don't really follow manga/anime series. I think the last ongoing one I followed until the end was the season 2 of Kuroshitsuji.

It irks me when people misspell 'irk'. It's not urk, that's a noise that you make when your throat runs into a pole, and erk, well, I don't know. >_< It also irritates me when I need to post in my roleplays or do my homework, but I keep procrastinating...

My friend is guilty of this. D:< She can have a rather picky music taste some days, and her reason will be "I couldn't stand it anymore."

Then again, she IS the driver. Who breaks my musical heart. ;3;
