Horse Treats Anyone?

Postby Jazz Never Dies » Sun Apr 12, 2015 12:45 pm

Hæ!
I found a recipe, but it was really bad so I remade it. All horses will love it, I even tasted it and it was good!
So...:

What You Need:
~2-3 carrots
~2 apples
~1 cup molasses (Smells lovely! (Smell it, it's awful (I think))
~2 1/2 cups oats
~2 Tablespoons oil (Or just put a small dash, like I did)
~ 8x8 Pan

Directions:
*Preheat oven to 300°F
*Grate the carrots and apples
*In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients
*Place mixture in an 8x8 baking tray, paking down tightly
*Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown
*Cool for four hours in the refrigerator

I can post others here! It was really fun for me to make it, it's very simple and fast.

Cool recipe!
I was wondering, as a goat owner, do you think goats would like it?

Hmm..
I'm sure they would, goats do eat anything editable.

Do you mean edible?

And yeah, goats are nuts. I worked on a dairy goat ranch for a bit and they would buy the really cheap discards from a bakery - things that were expiring and such. They received that in addition to their normal feed and LOVED it. I doubt it's healthy but it wasn't every day and each goat ultimately didn't have a significant amount. Heck, there were donuts, pizza crusts, tortillas, bagels, bread, etc.

With the main ingredients being carrots, apples, oats, and molasses, I would think it's fine. Goats should be fine with the produce, are often fed some sort of grain or oats (I don't recall what the specific mix was at that ranch but it smelled like sweet feed), and I have seen molasses tubs for goats.
