Mine is 500-odd people (for a highschool), and as a transfer, that was rough to join. Everyone knew everyone beforehand. In a big school, it's easier to find more friends, but unfortunately more clique based. Find people with similar interests and you should be fine.
Oh, and first impressions are really, really important. I can't stress this enough. People judge.
Anyway, observe what people are wearing, hairstyles, ext. Try and pick up on what's 'popular' before going school shopping. (Made this mistake once, shopped for old schools trends, transferred, was screwed) If you are a girl, (and of course you can ignore all this if you don't care, be yourself!) try basic daytime make up. Not everyone wears it, but, well, it's pretty. And hey, why not?
In public school, the, uh, 'underworld' is very real, but I may just live somewhere with a particularly shady side. Don't get caught up in that part of the school! If you party, party safe. It's a sink or swim situation.
If you're entering as a freshman, you're good. Everyone is new! People will break off based on what school they used to go to, but it's easier then jointing halfway through a year.
In general, you have five minutes between classes. It's more then enough time to walk back to your locker and to your next class, so don't worry. Must teachers aren't to harsh on late students, but beware the ones who are.
Take subjects based on what you want to do after highschool. Honestly, you need to have a plan. Not anything specific, but you'd want to know the general direction. If you want to go into science, you don't really need to take, say, drama.
Join clubs, but don't overdo it. Homework takes longer then it looks, especially when teachers aren't communicating on what they're all assigning.
Don't. Loose. Your. Phone. I left mine in the wash room once. Don't be me.
If you happen to fandom anything, find other people who do too! This can be kind of hard, as not a lot of people will talk about fandoms to avoid sounding weird, but if you can it's great! (Note: do not talk about fandoms unless you know people won't judge you.)
Sit down next to someone and introduce yourself. Worst thing that happens is that seat is taken and you move.
Tests come all at once. It isn't planned or anything (at least I hope not) but they all tend to slam down on the same day. I've got science and history on Friday, language tomorrow, had maths exam last week, had English exam today... nope. Seriously, it's weird.
Hmm, that's all I've got for now. Good luck!
Oh, and cafeteria food isn't really that bad. Usually.

Like in some classes just make small talk, like even asking what there doing for there assignment or that looks like an inresting book whats it about. Even pairing up with someone new you didnt even think have the same intrests could turn out to be your best friend. Go to clubs that semi intrest you and might find people with the same intrests. Dont be afriend to stay behind at lunch to get help or finish work as it does help you in the long run and even could make you a new friend. Like this time in art class a few people needed/wanted more time to work on there work including me, we turned it into a friend club and place you didnt have to worry about being judged (it was called art club but we didnt do much other then goof off and hang out). We had pot lucks for christmas, end year, halloween...well when ever we could plan it realy (mostly junk food we brought in), teacher even bought us pizza once (one of the best teachers ever), we did scare other peopleaway who joined one day and never showed up again...we were weird and didnt care (well we only acted like that in that room .) teacher trusted us in the room alone if she was in the school.... because she wasnt allowed to let us in if she was out of the building so are club hanged out in the halls when are club got little to big forone table in the cafe..
Yep test schudles are plan werid like the teachers had a meeting to have all the tests the same day or week XD Never fall to far behind in work as it will be hard to catch up and bite you in the but later.
Also depends were you go to school how good the cafeteria food is. Mine was awsome all made fresh from the culinary. From cakes (cheese cake, chocolate cake and others), pudding/jellow/muse cups, salades (one with ham, beef, cheese, egg, and vinigrate sauce), chicken thingers with homemade honey dill sauce, chicken raps, burgers with bacon, pizza, suacey chicken nugget things, frys and potuine. umm cinimon buns, cheese buns, chicken burger, soups, cookies, and there was gourmet friday (old people come to eat there... )like fancy breads, fudge, octopuse and other stuff I cant name at the moment.
Me and my friend once sat at the back of the class room (till teachers swapped room part way into the semester) she said it was like being the main charater in an anime sitting at the back of the room next to a window... the new room didnt have a window sadlywe once saw a chicken in the parking lot or a realy fat/huge raven and we live in the city.. so no chickens here not even legal
Also if you get the chance do the 30 hour famine best time of your life. You hang out all night running around a locked school till 12 am (though you dont eat you drink soo much juice you have suger energy) then at least at my school the janiotor takes you on a tour about old things about the school and ghost stories and rumours. Then your stuck in a smaller area like the gym or somthing as then only one teacher or two is on duty unless need to go change/us washroom then you get to leave.you could ethier play cards, read, watch movies on lap top, talk or sleep then get breakfist made in the mourning.
So try new things, keep up your studing as its what counts towards your career, and have fun/hang with people you like and it will be some of your best years

Alright, I'm in high school and I really want to be online schooled. I've actually wanted to since seventh grade. I have plenty of reasons why, from my anxiety, to grades. Public school just hasn't worked for me, and my grades show it(though I take one online class and I have an A in that class. Online just seems to work better for me); I have panic attacks frequently because of it. Any suggestions on how to get my parents to agree to online school? I've already started a powerpoint filled with reasons why it would help me.
I hope it's fine if I am posting this here. I'd love to hear any tips or ideas anyone has. Thanks c:

Thanks for the the advice guys. I found it super helpful. (:
Also, how many clubs are you in (question for anyone to answer)?

Don't go to school. Do some online thing before it is too late and you made a few friends and would not want to leave them to do online school.
I wish I would've done this, I hate kids at school.

I acctually really want to go to an online school. I feel like I'd be much more productive.
But I like my school and it's quite good. I'd miss out on a lot. And my parents would never agree unless I had a good reason :![]()
School is the worst but I guess we get used to dealing with annoying people like we will have to in the future at work
