Why does the recent UR pets' demands slowly decrease?

Hello there! I have been thinking of this for quite long. I was pretty new, and someone offered me a cucumber for my galaxy baby and the speckled rat. I saw that the cucumber is very high on the main list, so I accepted the trade. Now I am stuck with it and I can't even trade it away! I was bidding for the cocoon tail, which was under the cucumber just by a tier, but the fair trade thread said that I should add a few more Septembers or at least a few more Advents. My pets is higher on the list than the cocoon tailed dog. Plus, my pet is a UR, so it should have more demand, shouldn't it?

The flowerpot demand has also dropped dramatically this year. Most people in the auction board always write 'Please don't offer fruits or flowers'. What is happening to the UR pets? It is true, that the 2013 OMG So Rare chicken demand is still pretty high, but it has dropped pretty significant too! At December 2013, most people's dreamie is the chicken. But now, the fact that it is still a few people's dreamie is the UR chicken, but the number of hem has dropped quite far.

What do you guys reckon about this? I find it pretty annoying, do you? Do you have any advise about how to achieve your dreamie if it is a UR fruit / flower? My advise is don't rush to get them when they are just released. Their demand is most likely to drop very very very significantly.

This happens literally all the time, even with pets that aren't URs or even aren't rares. A new pet pops up, often with some sort of special design or characteristic and some people decide they love it. That automatically drives demand up and people start charging a lot for it, often way more than it's worth in the case of "omg so popular" pets that aren't URs. A lot of it is merely "created demand," or lots of people saying it has tons of demand just so they can justify charging more for it. Actual demand, without people saying this or that about it, is probably much less.

I'm not entirely sure why people want these omg so popular pets immediately. Possibly due to instant gratification or because they think they'll have a harder time getting the pet later because the demand won't go down. But it always does. Part of the demand drop is due to the fact that more of those omg so popular pets are released later on December 18th (or in the case of non-UR ones, later in the event/month of their release) than are released in the first day. Pets look more rare when people only see a few of them on the first day, so they fool themselves into thinking they're worth more than they are. As more of those pets show up, people don't feel so panicked to get them.

Uh... If I get a UR, I will most likely trade it away as soon as possible then, just to avoid it's demand decreasing.
