A lot of people make all their posts fancy, like with colors and italics and stuff. I don't do any of that, but I feel like people naturally assume that a fancy post was made by a more sophisticated person who cares more about what they post. This could cause my posts to be ignored, or at least be more likely to be skipped over.

Would my posts be more noticed if I typed like this? All I really did was click a few buttons, all this is is a bit of extra work to make my posts look a bit better, but I think my posts often do get skipped over and forgotten, so maybe typing like this would help? Are you paying more attention now that I'm typing fancily?

Whether or not a post is skipped over very much depends on the thread that post is in AND absolutely, positively how the post is written and what it is about. If it's a personal topic or not relevant to a conversation, people will just read the first few words or first line, then move on. If it's in a thread where discussion is nonexistent or unimportant, people may read it but not comment. And of course many people will read posts but never say anything.

Your posts probably aren't all going "ignored," it's just no one has the drive or the reason to reply to them. A fancy post may catch someone's eye, but appearance alone has, at the most, almost nothing to do with whether people respond. It's all about content.
