I got one of those cheap re-branded ones "for Christmas" though I've had it a month or two now. It's a Monoprice, re-branded from UC Logic. For $40 I was expecting it to feel cheapy, work cheaply, and overall not be anything like one of those ridiculously overpriced big brand names (looking at you, Wacom). But I was very wrong. It looks and feels like a quality product; it's not just plastic, it's nice plastic (lol). It's extremely responsive even holding the pen 2 inches away from the pad and I love learning to use it for all sorts of things, not just art. Plus, it has 6 buttons I can program to do whatever I want.

The one I have is 8x5 inches, which is way big enough for me. It's about the size of a normal spiral notebook so it doesn't feel awkward when carrying it around. 4000 LPI, 200 RPS, and 2048 levels of pressure. Sure, the newer Wacoms have better specs, but does anyone but a professional artist really need more than that? I didn't think so. For just 40 bucks, 50 for the nicer pen, I thought it was a great deal. A Wacom with the same specs would be upwards of $300. Completely ridiculous. There are absolutely no differences between this bargain brand Monoprice and a Wacom of the same specs other than name and price. Anyone who says Wacom is better is just a fanboy/girl.

Note: A lot of people had problems trying to make the Monoprice work and have updated drivers, etc. This is because they didn't follow the instructions. Shame, shame, people. All I had to do was insert the disc with the drivers, restart my computer, then plug in the tablet and go.
I was hacked. Not going to remake all my groups and such unless I feel like it. That's a lotta work. Don't bother with trades, everything's a mess.

This is the one I use. Unfortunately I can't give you much detail as I only just got it. But I was reccommended it by a few friends who love it. It is flexible and the pen works when hovered approximately 5mm away from the tablet. I might tell you more about it over the next few days as I get used to it. There again I might not. Anyway it's something to consider.
