So my best friend and I have been receiving some pretty rude criticism because I'm -removed- and my best friend Maria is -removed-. I'm actually really mature for being a -removed- in high school and Maria is more on the immature side so she acts more like a sixteen year old.
Today at the mall we decided to go into a store called Forever 21 and as I was paying at the cash registers the cashier asked me if I had started my college classes for the new semester yet, and so I looked up and was like "No, I'm actually a -removed- in high school." And she looked really surprised so she back tracked and said "Oh, so are you both -removed- and do you guys go to -removed-?" And Maria looked over at me and I could tell she was lost with the entire conversation and she goes "Actually I'm a -removed- at one of the local community colleges."
The cashier dropped what she was doing and started giving us such a hard time about how weird it is that a -removed- in high school be best friends with a -removed- in college.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is it really that unusual or weird for people with a four year age difference to be best friends? Like I would understand the fuss if like a fourteen year old was dating like a twenty year old, but that isn't the case. Has anyone else had a situation similar to mine? Because I think I'm just overreacting about the whole thing but at the same time I'm just kind of taken back by how straight forward the lady was and how rude she was.. Please tell me this has happened to you or someone you know too! xD
