My opinion on "Adoptable Keeping"

I have been thinking of this for a while, so, here you go. <3

Please keep in mind this is my opinion. If you disagree, that is fine. Do not post anything disrespectful, or anything that could cause an argument. Thank you. Feel free to post your opinion as well, in a kind manner. I am not pointing at anyone, and if you have kept an adoptable, don't feel bad. c:

So, I have seen a few adoptable pages on other sites, such as DA and Colors3D!, where the owner posts they keep the adoptable, or they keep one of them in a "litter" shortly after they post it.

This slightly makes me feel a bit upset.

I have in fact, recently have had this happen to me. I really wanted this adopt, but sadly, the owner kept it.

I don't find it fair that some people do this. I love adopting, and I am sure I am not the only one disappointed when I find out the owner kept this adoptable.
It is an adoptable not a ref sheet for your character. People need to be reminded that they are giving this character away, they after all, did put adoptable in the title of the art. If someone sees it, and they know, or assume that it is fully there, up for grabs.
Like I said, you have to know you are giving it away. Don't make a design that you like. Make something that you don't really find appealing, but something that someone else would be interested in. We all like different things.

Anyway, that is my opinion. It is short, but I didn't want to go on, and on. xD

You don't take into account the other point of view. Artists don't know how the characters they make will turn out. They can't just decided "hey, I'm going to keep this character" before they even make it. And when they do make their adopts and suddenly decide they like one enough to keep it, what are they supposed to do? Black it out and make a new drawing just for that one? That's asking too much. They don't need to do that. Yeah, it can be frustrating to see an artist take for themselves the character you liked the most, but they are the creator and owner and can do whatever they want with it.

It's not unfair because it's not a situation you can predict. You have the right to feel bad about it but they don't have to put it on a different sheet nor should they. I think you are overreacting.

As for your last sentence in purple, you cannot tell anyone what to do. They can draw whatever they want, and if they make something they like then it's not wrong to keep it no matter the forum it is in.
