Political correctness when taken too far annoys the heck out of me. Specific example 'Seperation of Church and State'
First of all, while so many people keep claiming it, that line is nowhere in the constitution, the actual passage dealing with religion is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
It really, really ticks me off when I hear stories about teachers and kids getting in trouble for praying in school (even if they're both religious and it was not in an actual class), Seniors in a home not allowed to pray over their meal because it's federally funded and a FEMA photgrapher asking a group of voluenteers to take off their Salvation Army t-shirts so he can take pictures because it is a religious organization. Those are just a few examples and all three appear to be 'resolved' but the fact that they even happened in the first place just bugs me. I'm also a little resentful for never getting to have a 'Christmas; party in elementary school even though every single child (and the teacher) in our class celebrated christian.
The whole idea of 'Seperation of Church and State' is more about how the government can't force a specific religion down anyone's throat, yet atheists (the hard-core kind of scary atheists who go on the news and sue people for similar things to the examples listed above, not atheists in general) seem to be saying- you can't celebrate the religion you believe in, even if you aren't trying to make anyone else do anything different because we don't believe in your God and our beliefs should be of more importance than yours...
*breath* yeah, sorry for the rant XP
