No. This is not okay. I only finished the first chapter, but I am already feeling bad for the main protagonist's sister because she is 95 percent deaf and uses sign language.
The worst thing, though, is that you do not get the experience much emotional pain since the book is aimed for a younger audience. I am not really sure why I picked it out anyway..

Yes, it is probably my fault since I actually asked if I could go, but I had to since I was invited by one of my actual friends and I always feel bad when I ignore her requests.
