Why hello there, I'm going to write a short novel for ya'll. :'D
- 1. What is your favourite anime(s)?
- Honestly, I like most of the animes I've watched... But some that always will be close to my heart and that I re-watch (surely I do re-watch most of the animes I've seen, but some are the ones I can watch a hundred times and never get bored of) over and over and over again are as follows;
Pandora Hearts
Kuroshitsuji (can't wait for the new version)
Sword Art Online
Deadman Wonderland
Darker Than Black
Nabari no Ou
Ao no Exorcist
Arcana Famiglia
Shingeki no Kyojin
Danganronpa
Death Note
Gosick
Highschool of the dead
Corpse party; Tormented souls
K-Project
Mirai Nikki
Code Geas
Blazblue
Diabolik lovers
- 2. Genres of the anime(s) stated above
- Everything and anything, I guess... Though, it feels like most of the horror-similar-stuff that I've watched throughout the years ended up there instead of Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh (everything from just Yu-Gi-Oh to GX, 5D's and Zexal, I've seen them all, though, I still have some episodes left of the second season of Zexal to watch... I came to the point where they haven't subbed them so I stopped watching so they could get ahead of me again), Yumekui Merry, Elfen Lied, etc...
I can just about watch any kind of anime without getting bored... There has only been two that made me drop them and never again watch it... And that was "Lucky star" and "Pokémon Advanced battel".
- 3. Anime(s) you would recommend to a newbie
- Well, that really depends on what sort of stories you like... I for one had Sailor Moon and Pokémon as the very first animes I watched way back in the days, long before I knew it was anime...
But I'd say... If you like Shonen... Go for either Naruto, Fairy Tail och Bleach... They're probably the more commonly watched ones. (and I for one am watching Fairy Tail atm, and I love it, lol)
If you're into mysteries and such... Go for Kuroshitsuji, Pandora Hearts,, Danganronpa, Gosick, or Death Note.
If you want a horror story with gals that has a little too little clothes at times, Highschool of the dead.
If you want horror and gorey stuff, but want them to keep the clothes on... Corpse Party: tormented souls, some of the episodes in Gosick, Deadman Wonderland (mm, that manga <3 love it. It's understandable that they weren't allowed to continue the anime. it's gory as heck, the anime is nothing), Mirai Nikki, Darker than black (though, this one is rather "kind", and it's really the best one to start with if you want to get into horror animes and a tad more gorey stuff, because this was the first one I watched, and I only died in the first episode when a man broke his own fingers due to his contract, other than that, I survived, and I had never watched and thought for that matter that I couldn't handle horror stuff).
If you want reality based stuff but still a tad out of the ordinary, Code Geas (seriously, that story... I didn't think it would be that good when a friend say "well, it's a great story and I think you're gonna love it" and I was like "ok, I'll give it a shot if you think so"... it was off the charts, and I'm not kidding. If you haven't seen it, DO IT NOW. It's amazing, it might be 50 episodes long, but it's so worth it... I mean, I finished it over a weekend... So you can do it too, because you will be caught in the story and forget about the world around you), Nabari no Ou (this is however something you will cry to IF you know what it feels like to feel the feelings that some of the characters carries within. And even if you DON'T know the feelings the characters feels at some places THEY WILL MAKE YOU FEEL THEM... So yes... Without a doubt, this is one of my top three favourites in the world, and one of my six number one favourite characters is in this story) or Sword Art Online....
But honestly, I'd say either have someone you know well and who knows you well tell you what they think you should watch... Or look up some AMVs and watch whatever anime that catches your attention in it (that's how I found K-Project, and I don't regret it, but I still didn't end up liking the characters that made me watch it after I had seen it, lol)... Or have someone on a forum recommend stuff for you based on what you tell them that you like to watch or read.
- 4. How long have you been watching anime for?
- How long I've known it was anime and how long I've been watching it could be cut into two parts...
I watches Sailor Moon and Pokémon back in 1998 or 1999 (I can't recall when they came to Sweden, either of those years anyhow). But I didn't know it was anime back then.
It wasn't until I was 10 years old and watched Beyblade, B-Daman, Medabots, Oban Star Racers and of course, still Pokémon and Digimon that I actually knew that the style was called "manga".... And then it wasn't until somewhere around late 2006-2008 when I started to first watch Yu-Gi-Oh GX on TV and later looked up Yu-Gi-Oh online that someone told me it was called "anime" and not "manga"...
So I've been watching it for 14 or 15 years now.
But I've only known that it's called anime for somewhere around 8-4 years.
- 5. Other?
- I'm a cosplayer as well, and read manga as well... And I love visiting conventions and have dreams to someday visit conventions in the rest of Europe, USA (especially Comic Con) and Japan someday. But for now conventions here in Sweden will have to be enough since I don't really have a job and thus can't afford to travel too far...
