I'm just against using animals for show in general. It honestly makes me sad.

@Kit-Kat - That's a great idea OwO! Using loooong strands of yarn for the hair! I want to try that when I make my suit head at some point. I know a lot of people use wigs, but I'm not sure of any other way.

Depends what kind of hairstyle you need... like, Dharma's little hair tuft is just fur. Most people just use fur for hair. Wigs aren't really durable for fursuit hair, they get tangled and mated so easily. You could use yarn I suppose, but that might just look like a mop on top of the head.

If you brush it out it looks nice. Like the same concept with the yarn tails... Have something crocheted under it and have an opening and sew it to the headfur and make cute fluffily hair :3

you can't comb yarn out long though, it just doesn't happen. The tufts will always be short, so matter how long you cut the yarn to begin with. Trust me, I've tried. So it ends up being about the same length as using fur, but takes a whoooole lot more work.

(Also.. Mei.. srsly... o_o?)

My tufts normally come out different lengths... But if you're doing it the way on the front page I don't do it that way. I follow a different tutorial. I haven't tried making long things, but since it's just a small knot and the rest comes out it should work fine o.o

The fibers that make up yarn just aren't that long. When you comb it out, the fibers are holding onto the knot in the middle. Any fiber that is not stuck into that knot is what gets pulled away. Individual fibers might be different lengths so you might get some variance in lengths, but you're never going to be able to get, say, an 8 inch long piece of combed yarn.
