The 2009 Victorian firestorm resulted in the worst loss of life from any recorded Australian bushfire. 173 people died in these devastating fires. Most deaths occurred on Black Saturday, February 7, 2009. Black Saturday was a devastating time, and memories are brought back last night, as once again, Victoria is threatened with the fires.
My thoughts go out to all those caught in the Victorian bush-fires, as I am one of them. My house was threatened, the sky dark red. An emergency warning was issued, and it continues. This thread is to help all people in the fires and to offer our compassion.
Here we go again. It's summer. Stay safe.
What it means:
Watch and Act
An emergency threatens you.
Conditions are changing and you need to start taking action now to protect your health, life and your family.
Emergency Warning
You are in imminent danger and need to take action immediately.
You will be impacted by the emergency.

If you are leaving your house:
Do not wear man-made materials, wear cotton or wool. Wear long pants and a jumper. Make sure to bring any legal documents, a back-up of your computer files, and any spare food, water and clothes for yourself, and any children or pets.
If staying: fill up baths and sinks and buckets with water. Turn on sprinklers and wet the garden. Drink lots of water.
For more info, please go to the official websites. I wrote what to bring/wear/do so it may not be 100% accurate.
