Strawberries - Gives my hives all around my neck, cheeks, and face. If I eat anything with natural strawberry anything in it I will get this and it won't go away for a month.
Pineapple - more of a intolerance then anything else, I can eat it if it's been cooked for a while but raw gives me blisters in my mouth.
Papaya - Allergy or intolerance, or it's just reacts with something. I had eczema (itchy bumps on my knees and down my legs) when I was young and for several years, but now its gone away. But the last time I ate this, it popped up all over again and worst then ever.
Banana - A new discovery for me. Normally I don't eat it because I can't swallow the texture, but the most recent time I ate it I got blisters in my mouth.
Dates - Same reaction as bananas recently. And I love them, Nooooo! D:
I really hate dates xD. I'm pretty sure pineapple actually gives most people blisters in their mouth, because it's so acidic it burns people.
Pineapple has chemicals in it that can dissolve flesh.
It's usually really minor in most people though. That's why sometimes after you eat pineapple it may feel like your tongue is during a little bit.
I guess in some people it's worse, thus some people get blisters.
I don't think it's really an allergy, it's just how badly your body reacts to the acids inside of pineapple.
OKAY.
TIME FOR MY STORY.
I'm allergic to tree nuts.
"That's all?"
Yes.
That's "all".
People don't seem to understand it unless they have my same allergies.
You see, it's different then being allergic to most things. Foremost my reactions are different than many other people's. Plus the fact that there are over 20 types of tree nuts.
THAT'S 20 THINGS TO AVOID EATING UNLESS I WANT TO DIE. Not to mention all of the other deadly things normal people have to avoid. Like knives. And vampires. And dinosaurs.
It's not simply one allergy. No. Tree nut allergies come in the bulk combo pack. -.-
My reactions are pretty bad, but not the worst.
My lip swells and my throat gets really itchy and it gets a little hard to breathe. Luckily my throat doesn't swell and choke me completely.
I've never used an Epipen, but I have to carry one around.
My mom really worries about me. She's always warning me and telling me stories about people who die from food allergies.
I can't take any risks because my reactions grow worse every time.
So I can't eat anything without a label on it, and I can't it anything with a label on it that has tree nuts in it.
It especially stinks when it's "Processed in a facility with tree nuts" because I STILL HAVE A REACTION
Why do that have to make peanut butter on the same machines they make like, hazelnut spread on? It's so sad.
BECAUSE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO EAT PEANUT BUTTER!
Hazelnut spread. Another thing. I don't know what Nutella tastes like. And everyone says it's so good.
I don't know. It's not just on the obvious stuff.
I see tree nut labels on everything. ICECREAM, CHOCOLATE KISSES, CHOCOLATE SYRUP, ANYTHING ELSE CHOCOLATE, CREAM CHEESE, APPLE JUICE.
Seriously?
Apple juice?
YES. BECAUSE WALMART STORES THEIR APPLE JUICE IN THE SAME PLACE THEY STORE THEIR TREE NUTS FOR SOME REASON.
Like, everything in the entire store is kept in the same small transport trucks for long amounts of time with tree nuts. THEY INFECT MY APPLE JUICE WITH TREE NUTS. DATS MESSED UP.
I don't know what I hate more. Normal stuff with tree nuts on it label, or stuff without a label.
I'm so used to saying, "Oh I can't eat that. There's no label." Ugh. I just smile and decline good food. Like cake. And cookies. And brownies. AND BASICALLY EVERY DESSERT EVER.
Just this Friday did I have to decline a cake and an ice cream cake.
I have a friend who also has my same allergies.
She was there at the cake-house with me.
We just went to the living room and played Minecraft so we wouldn't have to watch seven other people eating cake.
The people are always like: "I'm so sorry!". And I'm like "It's okay. I'm used to it."
At least I'm not allergic to strawberries anymore.
