I wouldn't compare it to a track pad. I would say its more like drawing in a notebook depending on the size of the tablet

I personally have a Wacom bamboo, and I think it was worth the money I spent on it XD. I'm not the best artist, nor am I very good with technology, but I still find it easy to use. I recommend investing in one!

I agree with all of you. c: Using the tablet is definitely better. Especially when you have pen pressure sensitivity (its super easy to activate). I use PS and Paint tool Sai for my artwork and both have their pros and cons. I recommend both I guess? I don't know why I'm telling you this but I guess I'm giving you the full information pack, haha!
Photoshop is great for backgrounds and you can create your own brush tools, which is always handy and neat, but Paint Tool Sai is awesome too because it looks so soft and its just really fun to work with. c: I guess you can try stuff out once you get your tablet. :3
