Waverleigh wrote:Well, the reasons others have symbols is because most of them are religious groups. Atheism is not a "religion." Also, they don't just represent a belief. Usually there's meaning behind the symbols, like the pentagram. Also, a lot of Christian symbols have to do with Jesus (a real person who died on a cross therefore the Cross necklaces, etc. have meaning behind them.) If you gave a symbol to atheism it just makes me think of a club or something.

Simply because of religion's turbulent history.
For instance: the Crusades. Was it really necessary to massacre hundreds of thousands of people?
Religions fight with each other, even though they're supposed to be peaceful. I hate those people who say, "Oh, my religion is better than yours simply because [insert deity here] told me so."
Also, many religions are against gay marriage and homosexuality. Remember when something like this happened? Let's take the Great Migration as an example.
"Oh, we persecuted the Puritans because they wanted to reform the Church."
How about the Quakers?
"Oh, we persecuted the Quakers because they wanted religious tolerance."
Guess what: homosexuality isn't wrong. So what if you love someone of the same gender? At least you've found someone you love, right? Isn't that enough?
