Yeah. I treat Christians the same as everyone else. At least until they start dissing me about my beliefs.

"No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous—
Almost, at times, the Fool."

I usually try and keep things smooth. Just because they dip down like that, doesn't mean I have to. :)

You know, Christians aren't the only ones who can be offensive... I mean, I get my beliefs attacked all the time. (I'm a Christian.) And anyways as long as there are different beliefs there will be arguments.

I am a theist(Someones who DOES believe in God) And I faced the same problem as you lot, but the other way round. In my primary school, when I told people I was a Christian, people were shocked :shock: It must be the same for you, but the other way round. :)

No, I *hopefully* wasn't saying that, but your point is true> Different beliefs=arguements

Now here is a question that I am interested to hear people answer...

There is no set "symbol" for an atheist. Do you think there should be? If so, what?

Some more information:
There are some unofficial symbols.

This is the most recent one, if I'm right... Image

Here is another "popular" one that I've seen: Image

And this isn't a symbol, but is usually reconized by atheists: Image Which is a take off of the Jesus Fish, and I apologize if you find this offensive, I can make it a link if you want. ;)

My opinion:
I don't think there should be a symbol for atheists. And I'm referring to symbol as in: Cross::Christianity Pentagram::Wiccan YingYang::Taoism
There is no religion called "Atheism", it is more of a term that describes people who do not believe in a god/gods. Like, you could say that a cross represents a Christan, because they belong to the religion Christianity. Or a Jew could be represented by David's Star because that is the symbol for Judiasm. There is no religion of atheists, like I said, it's more of a term.

But, like for this drawing I was doodling in SocialStudies that had a large tree with several different religions and their symbols, I used the second one. I do favor it more, but part of me doesn't, as maybe all not all atheists are strong science goers. But the top one reminds me of a sign you would see on the hood of your car, lol. I find the Darwin Fish more of a statement than a symbol.

Thoughts? Opinions? :)

Meh, I don't like those symbols. They seem like something you would put on a car :roll: x3.

Well, the reasons others have symbols is because most of them are religious groups. Atheism is not a "religion." Also, they don't just represent a belief. Usually there's meaning behind the symbols, like the pentagram. Also, a lot of Christian symbols have to do with Jesus (a real person who died on a cross therefore the Cross necklaces, etc. have meaning behind them.) If you gave a symbol to atheism it just makes me think of a club or something.

I still think Atheists can have a symbol. There's nothing wrong with that.
