They were kind of baffled how a Christian can rally for all those things.

Yes, lol. I'm a tomboy and I like dragons and for some reason people think that you can't be Christian and do that. As if we're boring 'cause we believe God. XD The also think we're a little crazy, and I have to admit I don't help that much. But hey, I'm a Jesus freak!

I get that often, usually with an addition of "wow, you're not even shouting at me/trying to actively persecute me" or "you don't act at all like the Christians I see on TV, like Westboro Baptist". (Or "wow, I didn't think Christians could be interested in science", and then I weep.)

Unfortunately many people come away with this skewed view of what Christianity is, because the media would rather show the extremes - the fanatical fundamentalists who pervert the true meaning of following Christ - than actions that are actually Christian.

Movies are never true to their books. :(
I remember wanting to see Passion of the Christ until I learned more about Mel Gibson. Then I turned over to Rainbow Dash's boat. The antisemitism just taints the whole thing.

I sometimes give that reaction if someone is overly Christian in a place/time that does not call for it or when having a simple conversation with someone is nearly impossible because every other thing that comes out of their mouth is something about Jesus or the bible. I don't have issues with people being passionate about their faith, but it's courteous to use restraint with things like that. I mean, people don't see me throwing horses and dressage into everything I say and that's not even something some people might find offensive.

fake!edit: ohwow, re-reading that, it sounded almost a little anti-Christian. xD What I mean to say is, I can understand some instances where a 'too open' Christian shouldn't be surprised to get that reaction. However, I think your project, if it makes sense to connect the two, isn't really something people should be too surprised about. I hear that's one of the books/series people often draw biblical parallels with.

Sorry if I'm being noobish, but what is the "Anti-censorship" thing?

I'm against censorship of television, movies, music, etc. I don't think media should have content removed because it's "offensive." I'm of the opinions words are just words and have no power until the individual gives them power.

Example: There's an organization called the American Family Association. They frequently boycott and write protest letters to television stations that air things that basically aren't super conservative fundamentalist Christian values that cover every inch of skin and bleep words stronger than "golly gee whiz." That's censorship. And one of my big personal causes is protesting against it.

Kind of. It's more "Do I look like I'm a Christian like you?" or "Does it sound like I believe in God?" or "Yeah, she's a goody-two shoes." I once held a 2 hour religious discussion with my aunt, but I don't go public with my Christian beliefs as much as i used to because so many of my friends aren't (not just atheist, but quite a few are Hindu and such so I don't want to offend them). No one is really suprised by the fact that I'm a Christian though because a lot of people go to my church (mainly because their parents make them) and I sing so it's kind of obvious. I also have a habit of joining anyone who has a slightly religious discussion. xD They also have a stereotype that those who are Christians are smart and not really slackers and I'm smart, but not because I'm a Christian. With The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, how do people miss the religious intention of the novel\movie, or for that matter the series of novels\movies!? xD

(I cant back this up right now But I have read about it somewhere) So no My family does not believe in the Rapture.

Did you know that the rapture is actually in the Bible?
I quote from the site Rapture Ready and the Bible.

The Apostle Paul gave a clear description of the rapture event in his letters to the Thessalonians and Corinthians.

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thess, 4:16-18).

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality" (1 Cor. 15:51-53).

The word "rapture" comes from Paul's "caught up" remark in verse 17. The words "caught up" are translated from the Greek word harpazo, which means "to carry off," "snatch up," or "grasp hastily." The translation from harpazo to "rapture" involved two steps: first, harpazo became the Latin word raptus; second, raptus became the English word "rapture."

I actually had never even heard that some 15-16 year old girl made the rapture up, till you just said it. But even if the rapture did just come from some girl, what is wrong with that? Many people have received knowledge from God that no one else has. I'm not saying it came from some girl, since it is in the Bible, even if you believe not so, which I respect, but there are many things that I believe that come from people who received the knowledge from God.

You must have an open mind if you are ever to learn the mysteries of God. Some things are not for us to know, but what He does allow us to know, I surely take hold of and treasure.

Nimblestep wrote:About the Satan thing: Funny, we just talked about this in class. (Well, because I brought it up xD) My mom said that Satan, as an angel, cannot be changed. All fallen angels have made their choice, and they're stuck there. Just like Angels still serving God cannot become fallen like Satan. So, no, don't pray for Satan.

I don't think they're stuck there. I mean, if they had a choice before, don't they still have a choice? At least until they're permanently chained up in hell. I don't know, but I agree with others talking about how you should pray and love even your greatest enemy. Like Judas, hated so much for betraying Jesus, but I would still pray for him. There's actually a whole story behind Judas' betrayal, I read it in Glenda Green's Love Without End. Very enlightening.

I happened to read the story The Fall of Lucifer, from the series The Chronicles of Brothers by Wendy Alec. The Fall of Lucifer is about just that, the fall of Lucifer. Wendy Alec says that she received special permission from God to write the series and reveal some secrets of what actually happened, mixing truth in with a bit of fiction. It's up to the reader to believe whether it's truth or not.

I'd also like to take the time to ask for a prayer request. For myself, sorry if that seems selfish, for my father, but most importantly for my grandmother, that she will recover and be able to live with us for a while longer. Thanks to anyone who is willing to send up a little prayer, all the other prayer requests are definitely in my heart.

Hey guys, has anyone read The Angels of Morgan Hill or other books by Donna VanLiere? I got The Angels of Morgan Hill for Christmas from my awesome neighbors, but I haven't read it yet. She also wrote The Christmas Hope series.
Apologies folks! I'm on a bit of a hiatus for I don't know how long.

I've never seen the Passion of Christ, and now after 30 seconds of that clip I'm not sure I want to.

It seems intriguing, and I'm down with scary stuff, but me and my friend were.. wincing, cringing, etc etc. >.< I've never done gore before, and I never liked to think about the nails.... Gah.

But I might watch it in a few years after I'm more used to that stuff.

Lol, I feel so wimpy x3 Yeah, my friend was asking me to stop it. We're such babies haha.
