Personally I prefer to let my actions speak more than my avatar... but I also tend to take things a bit more seriously. I am not skilled enough to write icons, and I feel that whatever attempts I make would be tacky, cheap, and unsuitable.

But then again I also dislike quite a lot of the modern Christian culture and wonder why we are trying to compete with pop culture instead of keeping sacred things, well, sacred.

Unpopular opinion aside, let's mention one of today's saints.

Saint Eutyches was a disciple of Saint John the Theologian and a fellow laborer of the holy Apostle Paul.
He preached the Gospel in many places, pulled down the idols' temples, and suffered imprisonments and
many torments at the hands of the idolaters.
He finally reposed in peace in deep old age in his native city of Sebastia, near Tarsus.

If you would like to worship in a more Orthodox manner online, they have daily readings, prayers, etc., as well as podcasts and such.

Sadly no way to get the smell of incense through the computer. ...Yet.
