It was certainly founded on Judeo-Christian principles, or at least in that spirit.
For all the disagreements within Christian sects, I for one am quite glad that the law is secular. It means that I won't be harmed for being Orthodox (or Orthodox leanings really) in a part of the country where most everyone is Baptist/Methodist.
Let's respect the wish for no fighting in this thread and recognize the common ground we all have. (Garrus, dude, you know I like you, but this debate is one for the 18+ board, mate.)
I hope everyone here knows the Apostolic Creed.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
and born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
