First of all, where on earth are their parents? Oh, right, standing a ways off smiling as if this is cute. No, your child is not being cute, he is making an anxious dog even more scared, and you should be glad my dog is one of the few without any fear aggression, because I've seen dogs that would bite someone's face off if they did that. Second, that is not how you approach any dog. If I give someone permission to pet my dogs, I expect them to do it correctly - slowly and gently, with no sudden moves. Third, the permission itself - dogs are not public property, and you do not know them as well as the person handling them, so please ask before petting them - some dogs simply do not like being touched by strangers or at all.

Oh my gosh, this.
I seriously worry about people these days. My dad's akita inu (Thank god Samson loves kids and most people. Most akita inu are not friendly toward strangers) gets TONS of pets when we walk him. The downside? Most are two or three year olds walking with their parents who go up and start hugging him and poking his jowls. Seriously these parents lets their toddlers run up and start hugging THIS (not an actual picture of Samson, just a picture of an akita inu) "Oh it's so big and fluffy! Like a teddy bear!" NO. NOT LIKE A TEDDY BEAR. Like a 120 pound pure muscle big game hunting primitive breed. These people...are SO lucky Samson loves people. I'm so scared to think what would happen if he didn't like children.

I know, right? Whenever I put my old bunny on his leash and took him to the park, people wouldn't even ask, theyd just come up and pet the fuzzball. Good thing the bunny grew up in a daycare. I mean, rabbits can bite hard enough to take off your finger!

At our condo in main people are allowed to bring dogs so I was walking my dog(a dog who is socialized with dogs and very good with dogs) out front and this dog runs up, not on a leash, and jumped on my dog and starts attacking him. This happened twice! The owners of the dog were right behind it and called it back to them. Seriously? If your dog is going to do that keep it on a damn leash. You don't own this land(and my dad could give them a good warning. *evil laugh*) But I wish I had said 'Keep your damn dog on a leash!' instead of 'Oh it's alright'.

I'm so glad that the people we got my dog from had four other dogs so my dog was socialized.

Oh, yes, another thing - My friend found a ferret in the fields behind her house. A man breeds them up there, yet instead of taking it to him, she decided to keep it. Firstly, the thing will be sitting in a shared garden (communal flat) so that means little kids annoying it. Secondly, she abuses her own two dogs, never mind a poor ferret.

Dude, I was that one little kid that was telling everyone to stop treating pets so roughly, yet I still think kids and animals are a bad combination.

Some kids are good with animals; some are not. It depends on the personality of the kid and the supervision of the parents, I guess. ^.^;

We have little dogs (Miniature Dachshund at 9 pounds fullgrown and a Chihuahua mix at about 11 pounds,) and they HATE strangers. Hate them with every fiber of their little beings. The miniature dachshund will leap back, snarl, bark, snap, and sometimes even try to bite if a kid comes barreling down on it. The chihuahua mix will hide behind one of us. And the parents get pissy at us for having "mean dogs."

I'm keeping my dogs on a leash under control. You're the one who let your larva loose without teaching them proper dog etiquette. Not every dog loves kids, and when your kids piss our dogs off and they get snarly, your maggot deserves it.

Ouch. I took my dog outside to play and I was trying to get the toy from him and he will paw at you while you're trying to do that and he has long claws that I keep trying to get my dad to cut and so I reached down to grab the ball and he hit me with his paw. When I looked down I had a cut and it was bleeding.
