I'm trying to make my own bow at the moment too!
I'm running into 2 major problems...
1) I don't know what to use for the drawstring part...
2) I can't find straight pieces of wood to use as the arrows...
Any suggestions at least for the string...? Im afraid a rubber band would break...
Well, due to some circumstances, I had to give up on making that bow.
The wood just wouldn't bend right, which made me end up turning it into a cane. LOL
As far as the string goes, you could always try some fishing line. You would probably need the 50 lb. or 100 lb. strength fishing line for a decent bow. Just get enough twisted together to form a rope-like strand so that it doesn't dig into your fingers if you don't have a glove. I've also been having difficulty finding some straight pieces of wood for the arrows, so I might just succumb and buy some from the store once I find a better piece of wood to make the bow out of.
