My mother keeps leaving lit cigarettes sitting on the edges of tables and other things around the house lately. She keeps making the excuse of "well, I was multitasking". No. You're getting old and you forget about the pack or two of cigarettes you smoke a day. You're going to burn the damned house down. You've done this twice in one week. Maybe if you had some self control and quit smoking I wouldn't be afraid to go to sleep at night because I know you've probably forgotten something that might end up in us getting killed.
It started with the night you left my dog outside all night and almost killed her because it got unusually cold that night, and she laid outside all night waiting for someone to open the door. She was freezing cold and terrified when Dad found her the next morning because he has half a brain to wonder where she is if she isn't in viewing distance.
I really, really don't want to wait for you to learn your lesson the hard way when something terrible happens. Either quit smoking or make sure you're not leaving them burning somewhere. The house across the street JUST burned down because someone left a lit cigarette laying out. WAKE UP.
