Well, it really depends on whether you want friends or not. If it's something you really, really want, then try, but not with the same group. Surely there's someone in that school with at least some similar interests, and if those people haven't found you yet, then you should try and find them.

And with the whole change yourself to fit in thing, that's crap. Sure, you might need to make adjustments to get along, but forcing yourself to do things you're not interested in will only disappoint you more than being alone.

I recommend just be yourself. Start mini-conversations with someone. Go up to someone and say "Hey, I like your shirt. Where'd you get it?" or something like that. Seriously, the littlest things can form into a great friendship. I met one of my best friends at another friend's birthday party, and I started talking to her because she gave me a Cream Saver xD

I have a new kid in my school and she reminds me a lot of you. She's a bit shy and quiet. I feel bad because everyone crowds around her and she seems kind of crowded you know? Plus kids around started telling her lies about my friend Kristen so that she wouldn't be friends with her. I'm not much of a social person myself and I'm not even a new kid. I have a fair amount of friends and a fair amount of enemies. I have my quiet moments where I just want everyone to disappear so I can think, and I have my crazy moments where I just want to be with my friends. I think that's how the whole emo thing started XO...Ehh...nevermind about that. Anyways, I think one thing is for certain is to be yourself. I'm sure a lot of people have probably told you that. I guess I'm not the type of person to ask for advice XD But sooner or later I'm sue you'll find someone who relates to you. You might even want to join school activities like play or something that other people might be interested in and have the same interests as you. That's all I've got, but good luck.

I wouldn't give up, you'll probably regret it in the future. Try talking to people about the things you like and mabey you'll find out they like those things too. :)

You're only as tall as you're heart will let you be,
And you're only as small as this world will make you seem,
And when the going gets tough and you feel like you may fall,
    Just look on the brightside,
    You're roughly six feet tall.

If finding friends at school doesn't work you can always volunteer somewhere (meet new people who share something in common with you)
like volunteering at a animal shelter
    or a hospital
something your interested in and would like doing ^.^

also I have similar problems making new friends and keeping them (their just too busy or i am and not enough common interests doesn't help) but i feel your pain >.<
Some people are ok with not having many friends and find being by themselves relaxing and comfortable, with less drama and fighting. There's nothing wrong with having just a few friends as long as your happy, and the friendship is a good one wheres the harm...?
