Fursonas

I posted something about this on a topic of someone asking others to create their fursona, but I want to see what you guys think.

Isn't a fursona much more special if you design it yourself? You have that sort of special link to it, not just: 'oh yea, that's my sona but I didn't make it, some random person I really don't know entered my contest and made me it.' You also have to give credit whenever you draw him/her, not to mention the fact that it's idea isn't out of your own mind.

So what do you guys think? Is it perfectly fine for someone else to design your sona, or is it just a bit weird?

I believe that you should design it. It represents you, so you should create it. In some cases, people have an idea but can't put it on paper, so they describe it to someone that can, then that person draws it.

IMO if your fursona wasn't made by you, its not your sona'.
A fursona is essentially an animal version of YOU, and no one knows you better than yourself.

I franky, am tired of seeing "fursonas" that would be better off as characters as they have no relation to the person what so ever.

But in the world of gaming, if your sona looks cool then heck you must be cool, right? (Sarcasm ftw)

Yea, it really annoys me when people are just asking others in a thread to make their sona, because it's not theirs unless they design it!

Reading peoples opinians almost make me change my mind about this, if a 'Sona is meant to represent /you/ then I suppose that it shoul be /you/ who makes it...

would it be alright if you cant draw so you tell the person exactly how to make it?

What you do then is go and find some free lineart of the species you want, colour it in with the design, then just get fanart! But i guess that if you told them the EXAXT way to do it, then it's still your design.
