i don't think you guys understand professional artists. And don't talk about world famous thats not the point. if you think people are paid based on how many people know who they are, how do you think your parents make money? i doubt they are world famous. The same thing goes with commercial/fine art. Its as much a business as any job, don't look down on them just because they don't work 9 to 5.
Do you know how much the new york times pays their artists? they can get up to 5,000 dollars if the project is large enough. the regular people will never know their names but they still get paid. freelance artists charge so much because they need to eat, and most expensive commissions are paid so much because the art will be used in print or distributed to a wide audience.
