Please parents, stop saying that the types of books that I read are unacceptable. I read fairly often and I've read most of my required books for school already and while I don't constantly read, I much prefer to write my own stories. I have written a 50,000 word novel which is technically published in a sense but not distributed since I'm not paying for that (though I did order copies for myself) and I'm in the middle of writing many other stories. I just don't find most of the stories my parents want me to read particularly interesting, I mean, I'll read them if I have to but the plots aren't to my liking. My parents say I'm not allowed to read any books that have ghosts of dead people in them or post apocalyptic stories. Stories with ghosts in them often provide great insight on the value of life and many interesting concepts on death and I simply live ghosts, not all books of this type are made for little children and the ones that are bore me greatly or make me wonder how the author got it published. I like post apocalyptic and distopian type stories since they show how easily our current government could collapse and different things that could go wrong in the far or near future. Even ones that are extremely unrealistic are usually based roughly on an existing problem. I also like reading about how people react to disasters since they have to take a break from their normal monotonous routines. Forgive me if that makes me strange or immature, I am still a young teenager after all and I know I seem quite stubborn for making this complaint but certain topics just interest me much more than others. The books I have to read for school aren't bad, they entertain me, I enjoy reading them to an extent but they don't make me extremely happy and inspire me to write like my favorite types of books do. Okay, I'll just stop rambling now.
