(movie you want to see) is coming out soon, are you planning on going to see it?/
did you read/watch the new episode/update of (tv show/anime/manga/homestuck/cartoon)? (then talk about what happened)/
(end with something nice and compliment their art/writing/signature/personality)

This guide is so much help to me.
Maybe now I can get over my fear and talk to someone I really admire.

I also want to strike up conversations with strangers, but I never really feel like messaging them, because I'm afraid I'll annoy them.

Not to mention the fact that there's the chance they'll have forgotten who you are.
