So I am looking for a good pair of spikes that won't wear easily. Anyone know a good brand? I've been on varsity track since my freshman year ( I'm a junior now) and I can never find a really nice pair of spikes. Anyone have any good experience with a certain brand?

Thank you :3 I think I'm going to buy them, since my coach highly recommended it. I don't know why he didn't want me to buy them for freshman season, though...
And someone else who's been there and felt the pain! I know it sounds strange, but the hardest one for me was Reservoir, because there's one hill going up, a bit of flat distance, and then another slope. I sprinted up the first hill, thinking that it would all be downhill from there and I had to run as fast as I could, and to my dismay there was another uphill to get through >.<

I just hate poopout because it's really steep. The first time I ran the 2.93 mile course here were my thoughts: "Done with the switchbacks! I heard there was another hill though, I'm sure it's not to ba- *turns corner and looks up* OH MY GOD" I had run the switchbacks before, though. Reservoir is rather difficult but once you get to the top you're almost there. XD

@SVU
I really like my Nike spikes, but Asics and Brooks are also a good brand.

Alright, thanks. I will probably ask my mom to go get me some. Track starts in like a few days for us C: I am SO excited. I've been doing pre-season for a while, not to mention that I do volleyball, basketball and softball too so I am doing stuff year round.

My coach has this really dumb exercise he makes us do all the time. Well, most of the things he makes us do are a bit dumb, but somehow it works like really well for us. We've won state the past ten years in a row.... Impressive, right?

Geez ... We have a state champion runner but our team as a whole didn't even make it to state. I'm the only girl to make it to Prelims and I missed qualifying by five places. I am a freshman though, and next year I really want to make it to at least finals. I think all runners have dumb exercises. We have "Plios" or "Drills". It consists of skipping in strange fashions an running backwards.

We do that too... It's called something else but yeah our coach makes us do that. I don't know if you have ever heard of Chase Ealy, but she was like the 1st best javelin thrower in the state, and she graduated last year :p but yeah, she was amazing.
Bite we are hoping to take state this year again :D track starts next week, unfortunately I can't start track till basketball season is over. Which is soonish.

Anyone who lives in a very hot area? I imagine it must be torture in the summer when you're practicing for the season. Where I live is known as a vacation place, but it's because we have mild weather all year, not because it gets especially warm here ^^ So it's quite alright running in the summer, as long as it's early in the morning or after sundown.

Yep!!!!!!! I am originially from Oklahoma. Very humid summers, very cold winters. Then we moved to New Mexico and the altitude he re is SO high, but now I am used to it and can run better at low altitudes,

Oh, okay! I used to live in Oklahoma as a young child, but moved to California. The weather here is an improvement if you like barely any rain at all and no chance of snow. Seriously, I think the coldest it gets in my area that I can remember is 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Oklahoma summers were terrible, at least from what I remember. For some reason summers are't as prevalent as winters as my memories from there, though I suppose it would be a pain running there.

Occasionally we'll get teams from New Mexico here racing against us ^^ There was this one race that was 108-110 degrees, and all the people from New Mexico and Arizona were wondering why we were all griping about the heat and feeling like we were dying. It would help to be able to run better at low altitudes, I'm guessing. Right by the ocean here, so there isn't much chance for that xD

Yeah xD people come here to train because of the high altitude :D and that's cool! I'm only at high school level, but I'd love to do college level some day. But yeah, my XC and track teams are really good. We've won state for both idk how many times.... Lol

And the winters are really cold, but mainly icy that's why it was hard to run in Oklahoma.
