I love track meets more than practices, and I prefer XC practices over meets xD. I like the distances, style, and the overall race of track more, but the XC team is so much more fun to be around. You only get the people who are hardworking (and usually a little crazy), whereas track for me tends to hold a tougher crowd to be around ;n;

Haha I completely agree about the team members (I don't mean that offensively towards anyone whose on a track team)! C: I also feel like during XC everyone's so much happier! But personally I find XC meets much more fun than track meets. xD

But with the sports themselves, I don't really enjoy running around a track (especially since I run distance) and find it a bit tedious. Also, I feel a lot more in shape during cross country season for some reason! x)

Ew. XC dilemmas.

Our coach retired, and we haven't had any summer training for cross-country yet, which certainly doesn't mean well for the future season. A few days ago, the coach for the boy's team, who is absentminded, never there to supervise practice, and a terrible coach overall, contacted us and notified the girl's team that he would be our new coach. I was not very pleased, to say the least. He doesn't let the team race outside of town and doesn't even know what goes on with his own team.
Well, I could deal with that. After all, as terrible as it must sound to everyone here, this upcoming school year will be very hectic for me because I'm taking all AP classes except for one, which is a college course, not an AP class. I'll have to skip on practice much more than I did last season, and thankfully the new ( old? I don't know what to call him ^^ ' ) allows people to 'ditch'. I don't want to have to skip practice, but with the mountains of homework I'll be getting...I'm pretty sure it's going to have to happen at times.
I had it all planned out. I wasn't going to be on varsity again this year because it's more work on top of all the schoolwork.

Ah, but the plot twist.
If you're on junior varsity, practice starts an hour after varsity's, which starts right after school. Basically, varsity practice starts at 2h30, but JV practice starts at 3h30 ( or potentially later ). The problem is, if I get home at 5h30 I simply don't have enough time to deal with schoolwork, piano, whatever concerns me. But I also don't have time for varsity. Ugh. I really want to do cross country this year, but at this point it's looking as though I might not be able to.

I hope to start training for indoor soon. Does anyone have any advise for indoor track? I've never done indoor before so any advise would be great! :)

I found this and it made me laugh:

I've never done indoor track, but I've heard it's fun. I do basketball during the winter instead, otherwise I would totally do indoor x.x

That is hilarious. I was cracking up and now I'm getting weird looks, xD

It's been pretty quiet over here for a while, so I thought I'd drop in and share my accomplishments.

So, last cross-country season was decent, with a PR of 15:15 and going to sections as a freshman.
This year, our team really stepped up.
We were undefeated in all four divisions for the first time in league history.
We also swept in all four divisions at MEL Championships! I ran 14:47 at the race and came in first, making me MEL frosh/soph champion. cx
We got 1-5 in that race.
It was very exciting!
My PR this year ended up being 13:5something for a two mile and 21:13 for a three mile.

At the Bella Vista invitational we took second with 6th, 8th , 9th, 10th, and 38th and moving forward, it looks like we have a chance at winning section championships. c:

Help guys

I have an indoor track meet tomorrow and I realized that I'm supposed to use blocks tomorrow but i never got taught how to use them because I had to practice pole vault instead. I'm only doing the sprint at this meet because my pole for pole vault hasn't been delivered to the school yet. So would I be able to learn quickly how to use blocks before the meet starts tomorrow? I'm only gonna need them this meet, so should I be ok if I practice with them for about 10 minutes before the meet starts? It's for the 55 meter dash.

Hello ^^
I run the 55 Dash, and recently my coach has been drilling blocks with us.
You will probably be able to get a little bit of the hang in 10 minutes, but your form may not be perfect.
Before you start, Fall forward. The foot you catch your self with will be your back foot in the block stance.
Your blocks should be a comfortable setting where you place your hands before the start line with your shoulders vertical to your forward knee. You should not feel scrunched, but not too open. Start with your head relaxed and down.
So, The Commands-
On your Mark- Kneeling in the blocks setting your hands on the line
Set- Butt in the air, ready to go
Go- Use your arms opposite to your legs to propell you out of the blocks. Drive your knee out of the blocks forward, and gradually lift your head up. Do not stand straight up out of the blocks or you may not have any drive (:

If you have further questions feel free to PM me!
I come back on from time to time :)

So we had our first indoor track and field meet today and I did horrendous.
I decided to do shot and disc, even though I haven't thrown a discus since last spring.
My farthest shot throw was 22' 4" (ugh horrible) because my arm was refusing to throw...
And my farthest discus throw was 51' 10" because I kept throwing it out of sector. And all of my out of sector throws were above 70. I was so freaking mad at myself, but I did get to chill with my friends for a bit. So it wasn't that bad :/

Anyone else doing fun track stuff?
