i was forced to take t&f at my old school, got pretty good at throwing shot put. my fondest memory is my friend going up to the other team after they came out of talking and squatting, "i'm a potato" he said. And then one at a time my friends and i joined him. eventually there were five of us, all doing squats and saying in monotone voices, "i'm a potato".

shot put is srs bsns

The upstanding church-going law-abiding tax-paying citizen who votes democrat or republican is far more despicable and a bigger threat to humanity than the most
promiscuous lazy drug-snorting hippie. Why? Because the hippie is willing to let others be free and the voter is not. The damage done to society by bad habits and loose morality is nothing compared to the damage done to society by the self-righteous violence committed in the name of the State.

I'm finally settling into the season! Out of shape of course, LOL, but I'm getting used to running until I feel like I'm going to barf. XD Anyone else feel me? I got my first pair of spikes yesterday and I can't wait to start practicing in them tomorrow!

I'm so sad my indoor season is over but i improved sooo much, like i ran the 4x200 and last year i was just a mere 55 runner, i also improved in the hurdles and i've went from sprinters to mid distance! i'm so stoked for the outdoor season i want to try atleast once the 200,100,100 hurdles,4x100,400 and 400 hurdles. i mostly want to focus on the hundred hurdles,200 and 400 but the others are cool too(: i also got spikes in the middle of the indoor season and i CAN"T WAIT to use them

Haha I know the feeling. xD I love spikes. I feel so much tighter and like my running is smoother and I just love them. ^^

Spring track tryouts start in a week, and I seriously need to get back into running..It's gonna annoy me so much if I pretty much go back to where I started when I began cross country. That's one of the main reasons I should have done winter track. I would have improved so much by now. -le sigh- xD

What are you planning on running?
I love spikes too, but they're hard on your legs so you shouldn't do a lot of practice with them - save them for the meets :3 Sometimes in hurdles we'll practice with them on but sprinters/long distance people don't really need to practice. Spikes feel really cool though!

Track tryouts caught me completely by surprise! There was nothing posted on our school website or any indication that there would be tryouts, so on Monday, when my friend told me that tryouts were that day, I was completely unprepared. I haven't been running, and that day I hadn't brought any running clothes, so my mom had to bring my clothes and shoes to school for me xP

Well, since I had thought that we might have a month or two until tryouts, I hadn't -cough- been running much at all, so time trials the first day were torturous embarrassment. I got 30 seconds slower than my PR and it was terrible. I had no friends on the distance team. During cross-country, we do intervals around the track on Mondays, the workout that I always detest the most. I'm not sure what quite possessed me, then, to join the distance team in track seeing as it's my least favourite workout during cross-country season.

Needless to say, after one day I'd had enough. I didn't think I could tolerate that every day, so I joined several of my friends at pole vault. I can't sprint at all, it's a bit funny actually, and I don't think I would have any skill in shotput or discus, so pole vault was pretty much the only option. My mom was number one in her city in track and field when she was my age, and her best event was jumping, but it doesn't look like something I'd particularly enjoy doing.

I didn't initially plan on joining pole vault because I was afraid that, if I decided to try it ( and I wanted to try it, it looked like so much fun watching the pole vaulters last year! ), and I was bad, I would be so far behind the distance runners in terms of training that it would be much too late to join distance and I'd be left without a sport for the springtime, which is exactly the opposite of what I wanted to do.

But I did want to try pole vaulting at some point, so I did on Tuesday, and it was actually really fun! I'm not very good at it but I'm hoping I'll get better. I think I'm going to stick with just pole vault this season. Any of you out there who have pole vaulting experience? I feel like there's some reason why I'm not very good, maybe I'm not doing something right? Or if you just want to share your records, that's cool too ^^

We didn't vault today- since I'm from California, track and field practice is outside- because we've had quite a bit more rain than normal this week. It actually poured today ( by Southern California standards, I'm sure all of you on the East Coast would call it a mere drizzle xD ), so the box where the pole goes flooded with water and I don't think it's such a good idea to pole vault in the rain.

Spring track tryouts were today for me and overall they went pretty well (I'm a distance runner), but I gotta admit after not having done winter track or any sort of running (that doesn't involve a machine) in a long time, it was way harder than I remember. xD ahaha
