It seems like left and right people are getting injured.
One girl on my team got stress fractures in both hips and her foot.

Update: I now may have a stress fracture in my foot/ankle. xc

Awwwww, that really stinks! I feel like my team is losing runners too, but we are losing them to the play. I don't know why, but almost all of our seniors are joining it this year. :(

Can't believe I only just found this thread!

Anyways, I run cross country and track! In track I do the 4x800 relay but I am not the best at it, I do it because we have very few girl distance runners on our team/the sprinters won't do it because they say its too long for them. I also do the 1600 and 3200. In xc my 5k PR is 23:31, which I got in *name of my state here* Regionals.

Does anyone else get frustrated when a teammate who has been a few seconds behind you all season beats you? It happened to me at regionals, I was mad. Our regionals course is tons of hills and there was frozen mud everywhere. It was a painful race and I hate crying infront of people but I did after that race, between my legs hurting and that girl beating me and our lead runner falling in the first five minutes so she was pulled out.

So excited that out pre-conditioning has started! But the past week has made my muscles the most sore they have been in my life. My coach decided to this year start a new way to work up to the standards he wants. With Insanity workouts... >_< They not only have cardio workouts, but core, plyometrics, and plenty other workouts to suck our coaches in. We've already done it twice in a week, though I do feel myself getting a lot stronger, much faster. The best part is the rest of the girls on our team pushing each other to keep going. And the sweaty, tired high fives after the workout. After this three times a week we do weight training in our school weight room. We are all working on our guns ;D Not only is my back much stronger, but my arms and legs are as well.
Quick question for all of the runners out there.
Do you lift during your conditioning season, and/or does your coach add lifting into your training regimen?

My track team doesn't lift and neither do I. Well, the throwers do.

In Pole vault! :3

My team is SUPPOSED to lift but there are often only a few girls. The coach wants me to lift this year and has a whole bunch of expectations for me this season, including breaking five minutes in the mile and running 2:17 in the 800. I'm starting running twice a day soon and I hope all goes well.
I ran at my first all-comers of the season and ran a 5:39 in the mile (which is much faster than last year's pre-season time) but I have much to improve. I'm also running my first half marathon on Sunday, which I'm very excited about but I'm going to take it easy, since I don't want to get injured.
