So today I had the worst race ever, DX
I was seeded first on my team from last year, but ran an absolutely dreadful time (we're talking 6+ minutes off my regular pace, not even PR pace). It was embarrassing.
Over the past few weeks I have been having some problems when running, even just exercising. My knee has been killing me, but not that I-just-haven't-run-this-hard-in-awhile hurt, I mean like something is wrong hurt. We have been looking into it, and it turns out I have Osgood Schlatter's syndrome. I recently got a simple band to keep that in check. So at least for the race today my knee didn't hurt, xD
I have also been incredibly fatigued. We would run a 1/2 mile warmup and I would be completely exhausted. I thought it was just everything starting up again and getting back into the swing of things, but it has lately just gotten worse. I think the race today was the breaking point. I started the race and immediately felt incredibly tired. When I finished, I was over six minutes behind my normal pace, was extremely pale, and my teammates said I couldn't walk straight. I wasn't dizzy or anything, but literally felt like I had been up for a week straight.
After checking it out, it turns out I have an iron deficiency.
Fortunately, both things can be corralled relatively easily, but it was a tough mental and physical race for me today. I can't say it didn't hurt my pride a little >.<'
