What exactly are advent tokens?

What exactly are advent tokens? I have an item and it is wood, but it is in a group called "advent tokens" I am confused? What are they for?

advent/event tokens are kind of like special currency. for example, around easter, CS has an egg hunt. you can "hunt for one egg token every 20 minutes by looking through the site at the bottom of the page(s) you visit. there's also a token "shop" where you can buy things with your tokens (as well as pick up some free goodies). most of the shop pets/items cost multiple tokens, so you may have to click banners for a few hours before you can buy anything, but you can also trade for tokens from other users (though people will tend to be clingy with them at first). the next event like this will be the easter egg hunt in late march/early-mid april, so i'm sure it'll be easier to understand then. (:

also, the wood token you have comes from the medieval faire that happened in late july/early august 2011. that particular event has only happened once so far, and i don't know for sure whether or not that event will happen again (we might have something with a different theme around the same time of year, but i don't think that's for sure yet owo) CS also has a halloween candy hunt in october ^^

Adding on to that, event tokens can only be used for the specific event they were released during, and only while the token exchange for that event is still open (the exchange usually closes about a week after the event ends). Old tokens can't be used as anything other than a regular item after their event has passed, and they can't be exchanged in any later events, but they stay in the 'Event Tokens' group because that's what they were originally released as. :3
