Merging accounts is not encouraged, and should only be done (if at all) with someone who you have known for a while and trust completely, since the person you merge with gains complete access to your account. Please don't try to merge accounts with random people - it's not a good idea. Merging takes away some of your control of what is done with your pets, since you're relying on your account partner not to take your pets, trade them away or do anything else you don't want with them, and many merges end badly. Since you can only adopt on the single account, you will still get only the same number of pets each month, so there is no trading benefit to sharing an account unless your partner is an extremely active knowledgable trader who can be relied on to make good trades with your pets. Also, as I recall, very new accounts are not permitted to merge because they haven't been around long enough to confirm that they're legitimate accounts.
