This reminds me of how it is at my Dad's house. My step-mom doesn't even bother to start preparing food until nine o'clock at night, making dinner ready at around quarter to 10 and everyone is starved from not eating all day, along with being tired and wanting to go to bed. There is never any food in that house, and when there is {courtesy of my dad pulling together enough money to buy groceries for everyone} it's gone within a few days. All of my step-mom's kids are starved and extremely skinny. My step-brother even told me there is never any food in the house unless my real sister and I are over to visit.
