I've never actually met a ferret before to tell you the truth.
Where I live ferrets are classified as an invasive species, so they are outlawed.
When I went to visit family, I went into a pet store and saw a ferret.
It was sleeping, but I was so transfixed. It's so cool seeing an animal that I haven't before so close.
Seems so silly that I would be so excited by a ferret. XD
They are illegal in many places because people are uneducated, they are NOT rodents. They belong to the weasel family, they are not invesive, as they do NOT even exist in the wild, the ferret is strictly a domesticated animal. They are close to their endangered(around only low thousands/hundreds left) relitives, Black-footed Ferrets. Which are a very rare site, it is very unlikely to ever see one in the wild. Ferrets have been with humans dating back to ancient Greece, were they also kept them as pets and hunting companions, their natural prey includes small mammels like rabbits to reptiles such as snakes. Today they are still used in Europe, Africa and Asia as pets, but also still mainly for hunting. In America, it is illegal to have them in certain states and is illegal to use them to hunt. Here they are mainly pets. They do have a personality between a dog and a cat because like a dog, they ARE trainable(I've tought mine some cool tricks!), social and are very loyal to their masters! Like cats, they are easy to keep, clean up after and they love to be with you and they love to be pet, they also play like cute little funny kittens, they say owning a ferret is like owning a kitten that never grows up, I agree. Ferrets may not be the most common spirit animal, but I think they'd be a great one to have!
