We have just released our newly updated rules! You can read the announcement about this here and view the rules in their entirety here. We have worked hard for weeks to try and cover everything and make the rules understandable for all users, but we also recognize that there are things we might have missed or that might not be obvious from our perspective. Here we invite you to ask questions for clarification, and, if we see a recurring issue, we may update the rule itself!
Post here and we will do our best to help you if there is something you do not understand or need clarification on!

I really hate to be that person, but unless I'm just blind, I've noticed this section is no longer in the art rules
You are allowed to create your own "fan pairings" and design "offspring" of Chicken Smoothie pets, as long as you clearly credit Chicken Smoothie for the original designs that inspired your version. You should not sell or profit from these creations, since they are made by blending copyrighted Chicken Smoothie designs.

has anything changed regarding this, or was it simply an oversight?

What distinctions do the moderation team make between political debate and discussions, could you give an example that might make it easier to understand?
A debate is more like "Should same-sex marriage be legal?" and a discussion is more "Here's a thread for people to share their experiences now that queer people have marriage equality."
I think a good way to put it would be that debates are a place where you state a position and try to defend it, and that often when you are debating it feels very "us vs. them." We don't want that atmosphere because emotions run high and that's when we get rule breaking behavior like personal attacks. Discussion threads are a place you go to learn about a topic, ask questions, find support, that kind of thing. However, it has to be done in good faith. It's pretty obvious to tell when someone has shown up to a thread just to pick a fight/wants to air their "unpopular" opinion with no intention of changing their mind, only convincing people to their own mentality.
The Black Lives Matter CS thread is a good example of a discussion thread, as even though people might disagree there (about certain things, like what the overarching goal of the BLM movement is) the point isn't about figuring out who is right or wrong so much as it is providing resources and sharing experiences.

That is definitely just an oversight! We'll get that corrected.

Thank you for the really clear and fast response! That makes a lot of sense
