Eating Pets?

This week in reading class, we're writing persuasive essays. I decided I'd do mine in support of horse slaughter. That got me thinking about eating domestic animals, like dogs, cats, or horses. Personally, I see no problem with eating them. They're just another unendangered animal, like chickens, cows, or pigs. Same with things like wolves. They're unendangered, so why wouldn't it be okay? Just to elaborate, I only consider this acceptable, as long as the slaughter/killing is done humanely. I thought I'd ask everybody else how they felt.

Sorry if this intro paragraph doesn't make sense. I'm feeling a bit off at the moment. Just let me know if it doesn't and I'll try to edit it tomorrow morning or something.

Would never eat a cat or dog, but I see no problem with others doing it.

I wouldn't ask for it. But if offered, I'd take it to be polite.

When I think of it I see it being so cruel but when you think about it it's really just like a cow. Maybe it's because we would never even think about eating our dogs!

I don't see anything wrong with horse slaughter, either. I'd also try cat, dog, horse, willingly, if it was offered to me.

I would never eat a pet but unfortunately it's a way of life for some people.

I dunno if you should say unfortunately. What differs it from a chicken? They're both unedndangered, overpopulated, and a source of nutrients. Alot of the stigma that raises from eating pets is from cultural taboos.

I'd eat any meat put infront of me, with the exception of veal and a duck dish that involves force feeding the duck.

Sounds legit. So you're saying you would only refuse to eat those dishes because they were, respectively, young and there's no way around cruelty? I don't mean to sound sarcastic if I come off that way. I'm tired still, so my writing isn't my best -.-

Trust me, I'm not in the best frame of mind either. It's more that I don't agree with the way they're treated. If its killed as humanely as possible, then I'll eat it. This is why I buy free range eggs and expensive meat, because it says on the side that they're allowed to free roam and live happily before slaughter.
