My dog hurt his leg badly.

do not heat! heat causes swelling. Use ice. Should get him to an emerg vet if you think it's broken.

Most likely would have but the vet said not to come yesterday if it wasn't a life or death situation.

We think he twisted it or fractured it. My mom who is a retired nurse put a splint on his leg last night and it's helped wonders. Off to the vet in less than an hour and a half.

well, lets cross our fingers for him! hope it is nothing to serious, but it gets better quick!

Just got home from the vet a few minutes ago. Good news- his leg isn't fractured, but it is badly bruised, most likely in his upper leg-chest area. We've been given pain meds that he will take once a day for 4 days.
