I started with halters, Hemi had that problem, I put a bucket of sweet feed under the halter so he would slip his head in, then slowly moved to a hackamore( I fail on spelling) and then went on to bits  Sorry if that doesn't work

that would work if she was new to bits and halters, but she already wears a halter all the time. It's just she hates the bits. She might have been abused by her previous owners, but she really gets mad when she even sees the briddle... :? I need a way for her to not get skiddish when I go to briddle her.

Thanks for the advice anyway, I'll keep it in mind. ;)

You could try letting her sniff the bridle, or maybe putting it on without a bit, just to get her better at the bridel. Then you could seperatly bring a bit, no bridle, and ask her to take it. If/when she takes the bit, make a big fuss about it (pat her, praise her, give her a treat) Then take it out, and see if she will take it again. After a few times, try with the bridle, and bit, then take it off, give her a treat, and hopefully she will get the idea.

What if you smeared a cut apple on the bit to get some juice from the apple on it, or spread a bit of beat pulp on the bit? Then maybe she would be more encouraged to take it. Or just hold the bridle near her face for a while till she settles down, praise her then put it away, and do that a few times and then hold it around her face, put it away. And then once she's really used to that and sees you aren't going to hurt her, ask her to take the bit? And once she does that, take it off right away, and each time leave it on for a bit longer? So pretty much just gradually introducing it.

I ride a chestnut welsh gelding. He is slightly over weight and sometimes really naughty, but he does have times when he is a perfect angel, and I love him for it. His name is Blaze, but I don't own him, he is my friends. As a matter of fact, I am going riding in.. *looks at watch* uh... actually I'm going riding now. See ya!

Okayyy, so I have this horse who is such a shy head at bridling. We always need two people to bridle her even if it's an adult or the most expirinced rider I know. She jerks away and never lets the bit near her mouth even if it's a life and death sittuation. Any ideas of how I can train her to stand still and make it easier for me?

You could always try a hackamore (bitless bridle) :3 Or happy bits. And they sell apple flavored bit wraps that can make bridling a positive experienced.
Also, have the vet check out the mare's mouth for any teeth problems/pain that could be causing this bad behavior. Good luck!
