Is training a horse nearly as difficult as it sounds?

Yes, and more. It's super frustrating and it takes a long time. Especially the way I had to do it, learn in quick and spit it right back out at the horse. I was learning what I was teaching. It is really hard, but I feel a lot more confident on my horses, and the one I trained listens and respects me.

I'd love to train a horse someday, I just don't think I'll ever get the opportunity to...

You never know. Maybe you will, I was sort of forced into it because I wanted to ride on a team and someone else was using the lesson horse.

training horses can be hard you can train them and they be perfect for you but another rider gets on it could be crap for them

I've ridden other people's horses before, and it's usually gone pretty well. However, last summer I rode someone else's horse, and I got thrown. It was not fun.
