I do know what I am talking about. Thos e aren`t actually called spurs. They are called something else but I cant remember the name. They are cmpletely different to normal spurs, in use and shape. The are long and sleek, but they are like a ball shape at the end, so it is not at all like western spurs. And they are rarely used, only for particar moves that most dressage riders aren`t fond of. And alot of other dressage riders are much better then him.

They are called price of Wales SPURS the same I use. When I go to the olympics and badminton I will take lots of pictures of the dressage riders wearing spurs. Plus this is off topic and irrelevant. Plus if you haven't heard of Edward Gal or Will FP then you don't know dressage or 3day eventing too well. Plus I think at this rate I will be like @smokey because this topic is getting a bit bitchy

if they are not called spurs then what are they called? scen-kid says they are spurs and so does Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spur
Prick spurs were the standard form until the 14th century, when the rowel began to become more common. The prick design never died out entirely, but instead became a thicker, shorter neck with a dulled end, such as the modern "Prince of Wales" design commonly seen in English riding.

Then what are they called?? You said dressage riders don't use spurs they do I showed you were wrong. You need to look into these things before you make these statements.

I think you should check out this page I think they sell the SPURS your on about.
Plus I googled the opposite of riding spurs. I got nowhere so do you mean a whip?

Thank you Sam :) I knew I was right as I have met William FP (he is soo nice) and I saw his spurs so I know (at badminton 2010) he wore the same spurs as me.

Lol I used to compete (only in minor league dressage) but 90% of riders there used spurs and I watched alot of dressage to make up my mind if I should continue with it and they all wore spurs only little blunt ones. They just make your aids clearer. Nearly all dressage horses are trained with spurs because aids are clearer so more precise so the horse understands better especially when asked to do funky things. But I don't compete anymore too demanding and don't have the time or a horse box anymore.
