My cat is fed wet food c: He always has been, and refuses to eat dry food. He is an ideal weight (around ten pounds, but he's a big cat and not fat at all). I'll say right now, he does have hairballs, and his fur is always shedding. I am not in charge of my house, nor do my parents listen to me, and therefore I have no influence over what he gets fed. If I could, I'd have him on raw. He is bought a general mix of different brands, generally the cheap cases of six tins. He will not touch any supermarket's own brand.

Have you thought of upping her play time?

Can I have opinions on the best brands of cat products, especially ones in the UK or available in the UK, preferably food and toy brands?

Hello!

As a fellow UK cat owner I'll tell you what we give our little Cotton:

> Food: because we had a small gum disease-scare with Cotton, and her late sister Candy, we use Hills Science Plan dry food for senior cats. Other good brands of dry food I know of are Harringtons Cat Food, James Wellbeloved and Royal Canin. We don't normally give her wet food, although when we have it's normally been Hills (though our neighbours often use Felix or Purina, which their cats adore!) I know you probably know this, but remember that a change in diet should be a gradual one- Cotton was pretty fussy when we first changed hers!

Also for treats in the evening we alternate between Dreamies one night and Thrive <3 Cats- chicken and salmon are her favourites.

> Toys: for catnip toys we normally go for Cosmic Catnip, but really anything from a reputable pet store (e.g. Pets At Home) would suffice. Cotton's favourite toy is a Cosmic Catnip fabric carrot stuffed with catnip, but she also loves all the other generic rattle mice and feather sticks we got her too! <3 (We've found that Kitty KONG wasn't really for either Cotton or Candy- we ended up having to throw stuff away because they didn't touch it, but your kitty may be different!)

I know this is a little bias towards what we use for my kitty, so I'm sorry if none of this helps. I hope you can find the right thing for your little one soon! :D <3 xxx

So I recently have acquired a 4-month old kitten, and I'm considering feeding him a raw diet. So roughly a week ago I went out and bought two raw chicken drumsticks and after freezing them to eliminate any potential parasites, I tried feeding them to him today. Success!

Well, technically, we only cut off tiny chunks of meat for him to try out, and there was a rather large piece [roughly an inch long -- not that large, but compared to the other ones, it was fairly large] that he couldn't eat because it was too large and he probably wasn't used to it. I know that a raw diet doesn't consist solely of muscle meat, by the way, I was just seeing if he was interested in it.

My vet recommended switching from dry food to wet because dry has carbs and wet has more protein. Also, going to wet would automatically take us from the "eat whenever you want" mealtimes (and she doesn't actually eat a lot, just a few mouthfuls a few times a day) back to the scheduled mealtimes of breakfast and dinner. Right now they eat Purina Indoor Cat Chow and are fine with it. My male has hyperthyroidism and lost a lot of weight before we figured out something was wrong and started giving him medication, but before that he was a bit chubby. Other than his hyperthyroidism and her fatness, they're both perfectly healthy and the food is healthy for them. They also very occasionally get a few bites of an "all natural" (whatever that means anymore) food made from fish, though I did not buy it and don't remember the brand. It's a very recent thing that we only give them when my male is being obnoxious and won't shut up.

I'm not sure what to do because my first two cats were wet food meals only and they had urinary problems or somesuch thing due to "charcoal in the food," according to my mother. I know nothing about this because I was young when they died, though the first one was definitely put down due to a urinary infection (or she had one at the time and I don't remember the proper reason for her death, Idk). They were also brothers so I have no idea if it could have been genetic. They ate Friskies wet cat food. I've also heard that wet/dry food is worse for cats' teeth? Don't remember whether it was wet or dry.

I can always just call up the vet and/or go in again (and either way have to wait for 45+ minutes) to see what brands they recommend, it slipped my mind at the time. They'd probably just say the brands of food they carry are the best, anyway, and they're way too expensive for me to afford.

Soooo, what are your opinions on wet and dry cat foods? What brands do you use regularly and what have you tried? Any health differences you've noticed, like sleekness of coat, shedding, hairballs and throwing up, etc?

I work in a vet, and I have been told that dry food is better. To find a good quality dry food, when looking at the ingredients list if the first item listed isn't a grain, then it pretty good. I use science diet oral care food, its large hollow pieces of food that requires the cat to chew it more. My two boys have been on that their whole life and their teeth are pretty good. Our cat Archie is a bit over weight, but cutting the food back to 1/4 of a cup twice a day has worked well.

hello everyone, recently my little 8-12 week old kitten Wiz has been getting way too rough with me and our other two cats Bell and Beaker. Luckily they aren't rough back but I am afraid he'll be quite mean when he's older.. any suggestions?

Little Wiz is just playing, your other cats know he's just a baby so they keep claws sheathed but if he goes too far they can stop him quickly (My ginger kitten used to bother my elder and he would just flatten him with one paw if he got annoyed).

As for you, he's going to pounce on anything that moves, watch your fingers, and don't show fear to him. If you flinch away he'll know you don't like it and will keep doing it, scold him if he gets too rough
Trying to get back into roleplaying, haven't done it for a while. I like roleplaying wolves but they have to be realistic so no alpha beta delta and especially no healer ranks. I like big cats, horses, cats. I like roleplaying warrior cats. I don't play a lot with human characters unless they're shapeshifters or dragon riders.

So if you have a roleplay that needs more members send me a PM.
