For I can't tell how often or how long they're in heat - if it happens to often you should probably spay them. If they're permanently on heat, it could be dangerous.
If you're already aware of that, I'm sorry. I just wanted to point that out. c:

Yes i know, but thank you anyways! :D We're trying to get enough money for them to get spayed. The best thing we could do was get their brother, Pippin, neutered.

You can get it done for free, local shelters or organizations can do it, thats how my first cat got neutered, or call your vet and ask if they can neuter them for free. c:

Will freezing raw meat/organs/bones for 3 days even slightly lower the risk of your cat getting an illness?

Or will the nutrients just deteriorate? [They would, right?]

Not really, since you thaw it anyway. If you're feeding raw, the risk of getting an illness from diet is less than if you feed kibble. Kibble has a ton of harmful bacteria in it, and raw, while it has bacteria, is bacteria that cats can handle. Their digestive tract is built to destroy bacteria. Taurine levels tend to deteriorate in ground frozen meats, but it would take more than three days. For some meats like wild game, you actually do freeze for six weeks in case of parasites. However, with your average meats, freezing doesn't do anything for the "safety". Safely handle and store the meats and the cat will be fine.

I sense a cat lady here -w-
I am one two lol
Sky snuggles with me, it's a amazing thing to know a cat would love you so much! Do you have any pictures of bumble? He sounds like he was a lovely cat

hawkster. wrote:Hello everyone, I JUST found the "Animal Chatter" thread. ^^''
I just want to introduce my cats!

Bumble was the first cat I ever had. I had him since I was around 4 or 5, and he passed away not too long ago. He was just getting old. He was pretty grumpy towards most of our family, and he would be a little "sassy" with me as well (at times) but he was still my best kitty friend. Yet, he would always look towards snuggling with me, and everyone else would "envy" me. We had a long bond, and life together. I would always nickname him Mr.Bumble.

Yam was a cat I found on the road. He was between one of the apartment house things and was skinnier than a hmm, I don't know, a twig? Any who, I believed he was a turkish van, a gorgeous one. He looked sorta' like this. We kept him up until we decided to drop him by at a local shelter, we already had too many pets at home, sadly.

Mimi was a mellow black and white old little molly. She was a stray neighboorhood, I just decided to include her in this list. (Despite her not being my cat) Mimi had a really glossy and soft black pelt, and I had met her by the time I had just gotten Bumble. Mimi loved to be cuddled and hugged and pet and ishouldshush. blah. I had to move from the neighborhood, but my friend still kept me in touch with Mimi, until of course she passed on from old age.

Hawkster the almighty! (not.) Hence my username. Hawkster is the cat I currently have. C: He really looks like Bumble, who is a white tom with brown tabby patches. The only difference is the greenish eyes, fluffy cheeks, ears, tails, (to put it simply, he's fluffier) He also has a similar personality as Bumble. I've come to think he's the reincarnated version of "Mr.Bumble" As if Bumble had slid down the Rainbow Bridge, but he fell so far that when he landed upon his four paws as a kitten, his fur was frizzled up and stayed that way.

Cindy is my other living cat, who is a pretty siamese. What makes me laugh the most about her is her curiousity, and her crossed-eyes. She is very inquisitive, and must touch everything in order to know what it is. Let's say you show her a fuzzy, frizzy plush toy. She'll sniff it, swipe her paws a few time, then she'll touch it. Since its frizzy and weird feeling, she'll just spring backwards and land about 2 meters away. Cindy is a complicated kitty, there's far too much more to say for her. ^^'

Feel free to ask me any questions about my kitties!
im coming up on infra-red, there is no running that can hide you...

Day four on raw.
Milo is eating his food just fine still. No puking, no refusal to eat, no abnormalities in his stool.
Sahara is still in the process of switching to canned.
Sterling was actually excited to eat her food today! She ate it fast and kept it down. She's finally enjoying it! Sterling used to have runny poop all the time but I haven't seen any lately, so that's good!

freezing raw meat actualy isn't good at all you are actually not killing germs by freezing and storing any and all raw meat and carcasses in your fridge only heat kills germs so bottom line is the nutrients will be fine but the risk of illness is higher because they frozen and uncooked only heat kills germs not cold. It's false that storing yoru meat in freezer will keep your cats from getting ill it doesn't lower it. in fact it's proven that you can't kill germs with the cold germs thrive and fester with freezing and coldness i don't know where half the animal chatter peopel get their information that freezing kills germs or lowers illness risks but it's incorrect.

Honestly I know I am right this is scientific fact that cold allows germs to thrive heat allows germs to die.

you niether increase nor decrease the risk of illness to your pets by freezing food.

it baffles me that raw feeders believe everythign they read on internet about feeding raw even though it's common sense and scientific fact that cooked food is safer then raw food. you'd still be feeding y oru animals properly even if you fed them cooked natural food from the raw meat you give them now.

Freezing meat doesn't kill bacteria, but I believe it puts it in a dormant state. Heating the meat would be fruitless if feeding a raw diet. Raw meat is perfectly safe for cats to eat, since their digestive systems are built for it. You have to mess up pretty badly with the storage and handling of the meat for your cat to get sick off of it. With raw, it is more likely for the cat to get sick from a poorly balanced diet than from the meat itself.

Cold slows and/or stops the dividing and growth of bacteria. Freezing kills parasites. :) Game meat should be frozen for 3+ weeks to kill off parasites. Supermaket meats are feed-able without freezing.

Freezing does lessen nutrients, namely taruine. In a raw diet for cats taruine is super important and found richly in fresh heart. Cooking also degrades nutrients.
