So I just got done talking with my fiance's mother. She's the one I'd be moving with. She thinks she knows someone who can foster my cats for me! Cross your fingers guys!

Been a while since I've posting on here xD

Anyway, our cat Simba seemed to have run away some weeks ago - he was a stray when we got him, and it seems really unusual for him to go off like this, since he has been for around a year or so with us. It wouldn't have been much of a problem - he knows how to handle himself, and we always though he was the type to not settle in one place, but my sister and my niece are really upset about losing him.

My dad said yesterday, after taking my mum to work, that he saw him on the corner of a street - my dad did stop the car and get out to call him, but Simba has always been afraid of my dad, and the cat ran into some bushes. It didn't seem the cat had a collar, long haired, and seemed to have the same small little wounds Simba would get around his face. Also, he is one of those cats that you will know it is them if you see them - including the high-pitched meow he gives x3

Since Simba likes me the most, they want me to walk up there and call him for the next few days - since he might come to me. I hope it works, I really don't want to be ownerless.

I cut his nails every few weeks, but he still tries sharpens his claws on the carpet or furniture when we cant see him despite having a large scratching post... And he often likes to smell my feet ( strange i know ) and if i try to get my foot back, well out come the claws and suddenly there are holes in my socks...Anyone had any luck with soft paws?? I want to get some advice before approaching my parents with the idea!

Scratching isn't just to sharpen claws. It's also to mark territory. Put cardboard scratchers (you can get them for like a dollar at places like Walmart) down next to the couch and in other areas he regularly scratches. He also may not like the scratching post you have. Some cats are particular. I have nothing against soft paws but I prefer trying other means first.

Odd thing is Archie is scared of cardboard... hates it! He loves his scratching post but one on the main problems is that some new rugs we bought, if Archie pulls on it hard enough, pieces of carpet come out, and of course to him its lots of fun...

Update on the kitten
We have dubbed her Missy, she seems slightly overweight and is happy to hang around for a few hours. She doesn't like to be picked up or have her belly touched, my mind is bordering on the fact that she may be preggers! She seems well looked after and I'm not sure she IS a kitten. She hates having her neck touched and we suspect she may live with young children who play rough. She's very sweet and gentle and doesn't like our boys coming too close (Shadow respects her wishes and stays away, we haven't seen her with neko yet) We still don't know where she lives however she comes to us from roughly 6:00-9:00 It seems.
Any help/comments would be appreciated.

Or she might not like kids because tiny humans are terrifying and confusing to animals who haven't been socialized to them. They smell different, act different and make different noises then adults. Not like being picked up and not liking their belly touched are completely normal things. Most cats don't like having their belly touched.

Sorry but it really annoys me when people try to makes reasons or assumptions as to why an animal likes or does not like something, especially when they don't know that animal's history. How, why or what rarely matters when counter conditioning.

Bumping back up, as I'd still like help with the tree.

spiderfish wrote:Does anyone happen to know of any DIYs for cat trees? Preferably ones that I'd be able to take down to store.

I figured a cat tree would make an awesome playground for my ferret. But, I don't want to pay pet shop prices, don't want it covered in fur, and want to be able to take it down & shove it out of the way when she's not out.

Also, anyone ever DIYed a wand teaser toy? They're the ferret's favourite thing ever, but the ones in pet shops lately are either horribly over-priced, or the elastic is crap, and not bouncy enough.

Would appreciate any help :)
