Their internal clock is not always in time with the regular clock. Sometimes it just happens.

It could be partially because of the food. Royal Canin isn't particularly great quality for the price and any hairball reducing stuff is just a gimmick, and lower quality foods can cause coat and skin issues including excessive shedding c: Jack used to shed constantly before we switched her food.
If its warm in your house then that can mess up the whole season shedding thing, so it could also be that c:

Excess fur can also come out in the litter tray, so its normal for some cats to not produce hairballs all that often.
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

Also royal canin is very nice, I tried the fancy stuff and he had diarrhea for days.

Royal canin may taste nice but it isn't a properly balanced, healthy food.
Check the ingredients, there's lots of bad and unneeded stuff for cats thrown in there. Plus fancy food doesn't always = good food.

What food would you reccomend?
I feed him Fancy Feast wet food mostly, royal canin dry food, he doesnt eat much dry or wet, he gets a balanced bit of both, but what dry food would you say is best?

Did you switch slowly or all at once? Most cats need to be very gradually introduced to a new food to avoid upset c:
Cats are obligate carnivores and need pretty much only meat in their diet. A good cat food will have named meat as the first ingredient(s) and low to no grains.
The ingredients of Royal Canin indoor (hair ball reducing) are:
Corn, poultry meal, rice, vegetable, wheat, animal fat, animal protein (hydrolyzed), lignocellulose, Minerlalstoffe, beet pulp, soya oil, fructo-oligosaccharides, yeast, fish oil.

Very little animal protein. Corn as the main ingredient which isn't great. Poultry meal is the ground up remains of pretty much anything that kinda came from a bird including egg shells and feathers
Compared to something like MACS wet food which contains
Meat (min. 20% duck, turkey min 25%, Chicken min 25%) and animal derivatives (heart, liver, stomach), minerals, taurine.

Or a dry food (Applaws)
Dry Chicken Meat (min. 59%), Dry Potato (min 4%), Chicken Mince (min. 9%), Poultry Oil (min. 9%, source of Omega 6), Poultry Gravy (min. 3%), Beet Pulp (min. 3%), Dry Whole Eggs (min. 3%), Brewers Dried Yeast, Salmon Oil (source of Omega 3), Minerals, Cellulose Plant Fibre (min. 0.4%), Sodium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Seaweed/Kelp, Cranberry, DL-Methionine, Potassium Chloride, Yucca Extract, Citrus Extract, Rosemary Extract.

Lonin's in the UK so it depends what country you're in :B

Twinkleninja- one of my cats, Bramble, had a hairball a few days ago, and he's a short-hair. I don't really worry hairballs, it's just a natural cat thing that happens every so often c:

Oh, there were a bunch of juncos right outside the window earlier today and they were making Sassy, Jigsaw, and Amarni go bonkers. The three of them were all sitting by the window, staring out at the little birds. I knew they would have loved to go outside and chase them, but not until it warms up a bit. Its supposed to be warmer this week, so hopefully they'll be able to get out sometime soon. Although, only Bramble doesn't mind the snow that much.

Right now Amarni's trying to eat my tablet pen x3

Aw, that's adorable.

My kitten used to watch me draw with a pencil, and she'd grab the eraser and try to 'kill' it. It was adorable.
