I have a female betta named Pearl ♥

most female bettas are pretty plain but mine has a pretty teal tint to her. Shes real bright and vibrant :3
i tried to get my male crown finned betta to breed with a brown female but he didnt want to. he didnt even start the nest! D:
but today i got him to mate with Pearl! She is the only betta the males will mate with!! XXDD

Breeding betta is so difficult I never bothered with it. But, I do have some questions. =)

Did you import your stock? What are you hoping for out of this breeding? How do you know when to cull from your breeding program? How did you condition the fish for breeding? How long after the male builds the nest do you add the female? Do the fry need any special heating or care? How many people do you have interested in the offspring? Are you going to keep track of these fishes longevity for future breeding? Are you going for any special colors or fin-types?

I find Breeding fascinating. If I got into it, It'd simply be for longevity because pet store bettas have so many genetic issues. I mean.. betta fish now-a-days are so prone to tumors and cancer its redic.

When I had Romo and Midge, everyoen asked me if they had babies. O.e And then they asked me this (actualy quote from a friend) "OMG I would so take a few of them wittle fisheh babies from you!" Then my other friend joined in, then my science partner (random), and then this girl that I did a school play with. O.O That got me to do some research, and I;ve been reading about Betta breeding ever since. I'm not really at the point of interested in expierimenting with it, btu I thought it was a cool topic.

This summer I am actually going to start breeding bettas.
I just need to know about feeding, what I should put into the water (what conditioner) and what temperature the water should be.

I've been wanting to breed my betta, but I need to get a seprate tank, another male, and a pretty female. My parents don't want me breeding fish in our home tank. I also would love to know the answers to all the questions above.

I heard that you need to keep the tank fairly warm, like at 82 degrees. I would also like to know the answers ot those questions, though. ^_^
