You actually don't need one unless your tank is below 76... although the preffered temperature, since Betta splendens are tropical fish, is 79-80.
If your fish is laying at the bottom of his/her tank, the tank may be too cold.

Exactly. ^_^ I was testing out my heater and the entire tank almost melted. D8 It was getting all squishy and bendable... Yeah, I don't use plastic aquariums anymore. XD

My first betta was named Mike. He was a blue veiltail, but my mom was eating a turkey sandwich next to his bowl, a piece of turkey fell out on accident, and killed him after he ate it. I then got another, his name was Mike II. Then he died. After him, there was Mike III. He died soonly after. (This was when I was about 6, I didn't have any more Mikes after that XD)

Now I have a beautiful blue betta named... He still needs a name. He is huge for a betta, and isn't afraid of our Blue Gourami, who likes to eat bettas, which means he's probally going to survive. Any name suggestions for him?

My mom says I don't need it but I am pretty sure I do.
I would only need it for winter, It gets really cold and I have the coldest room in my house.
Last winter My betta stopped swimming around and would only really come out of hiding for food. It really scared me.

Do you have a thermometer in your tank, varoujan?
My Betta limit is 5. So I can't have more than 5 bettas at one time, or I'll get in trouble.
That means I can only get three more... D: I want to start a sorority of 4 girls, and now I can't.

So I found my three gallon desk tank! 8D Now I really wanna put a pretty betta i nthere... >.< Hard part is getting my parents to agree. If I do get one, then I'm naming him Todd. XP

Thermomiters are extremely important, otherwise, how do you know if your fish are freezing or not?

I have a female betta named Pearl ♥

most female bettas are pretty plain but mine has a pretty teal tint to her. Shes real bright and vibrant :3
i tried to get my male crown finned betta to breed with a brown female but he didnt want to. he didnt even start the nest! D:
but today i got him to mate with Pearl! :D :D :D She is the only betta the males will mate with!! XXDD
